1. Cancellation by the exam institute
It is possible that the exam institute is forced to cancel an exam. We therefore has the right
to cancel an exam without being liable to pay for damages or costs made you.
Cancellation of an exam will always be communicated by e- mail to the e-mail address you
have provided upon enrolment.
After this e-mail is sent we will call you in order to agree upon an alternative. Following
alternatives will be offered:
a. The same date at another location (in a different city)
b. Another date at the same location
The candidate has the right to decline the alternatives offered which leads to full credit of the
examination fees.
2. Cancellation by candidate
Instead of cancelling your exam you could require to change the date of your exam.
For changing the date of your exam following rules apply:

In case you have to cancel due to illness or death in the first line it is possible to postpone your exam
without any charges when you provide us with a medical certificate or a death certificate showing
that you are 1st in line from the person who passed away . We need this certificate within 7 working
days in order to be able to postpone your exam without costs.
In case we do not receive such a certificate in time we have to consider the exam as cancelled.
Important
Request for changing the date of your exam or cancellation of your exam should be
done by sending an e-mail to [email protected].
3. Course package
Your course package exists of:

You received an e-mail with your personal login credentials. With your login you access the
interactive VCA learning modules including knowledge tests, the online manual and the
online mock exam.
De e- learning consists of:
14 online learning modules
The average study time is 7-8 hours.
You can access the e- learning as long as you did not pass the official exam with a
maximum of 12 months.

Online manual
In case you appreciate a reference, you should print the manual before you attend the
official exam. As soon the result of your official exam is registered in our system it is not
possible anymore to print the reference.
Knowledge tests
You check your knowledge with the knowledge tests. Practice as often as you want.
When you have practiced enough, then start the mock exam.

Mock exam
Prepare yourself well for the official exam by making the mock exam. The mock exam is
an official exam which is not used anymore. With the mock exam we simulate the
official exam.

2. Exam
You received an e-mail with the confirmation of your exam date, -location and –time.
VCA Basic Up to 60 minutes, 40 multiple choice questions of which 28 to be answered well to succeed.
VCA VOL Up to 75 minutes, 70 multiple choice questions of which 49 to be answered well to succeed.
VIL VCU Up to 75 minutes, 70 multiple choice questions of which 49 to be answered well to succeed.
Have you signed up for a course package based on a ‘’computer exam’’?
You make the exam using a computer in the test centre. Immediately after completion of
your exam, the computer will give you feed back by giving you the preliminary results.
These preliminary result cannot derive any rights.
4. Preparation
We advise you to allow yourself sufficient time for the completion of the online e- learning.
The average study time for the e- learning is about 7-8 hours.
5. Identification
You have to bring your original and valid passport, European ID card or driver’s license to the
exam and show it to the examiner.
If you don’t bring your original and valid ID or if you are unable or unwilling to show it, you
will not be allowed to make your exam. Your exam will be declared invalid whereas you
still have to pay fully for the exam.
You have to bring a photocopy of the same valid ID you bring along and hand it over to the
examiner (in case of an immigration permit a copy of the front- and backside). Please note
you have to make your picture and social security number invisible.
According the privacy law relevant information only should be filed in your exam file. This means that
you have to make your picture and social security number invisible.

6. Before the exam starts
You need to be present at the exam location at least 15 minutes before the exam starts.
Before starting the exam the examiner will check your ID, will assign a seat and will hand over
all exam necessities. Upon receipt you have to check whether you received the right exam, if
it is complete and usable.
7. Being too late
Candidates arriving later than at the time originally set, are only allowed to participate if
there is no official check from the ECABO (the official institute which controls the validity of
the VCA exams) and/or no- one else has left the examination room. Lost time will not be
compensated.
8. Exam duration
The maximum time allowed is 60 minutes for VCA Basis elements of Safety and 75 minutes
for Safety of Operational Managers. Unless otherwise instructed, your exam and multiple
choice from will be collected after the allotted time stated above.
9. Rules during the exam
You need to follow the instructions of the examiner at all times.
Write your answers only on the multiple choice form provided by an examiner.
You have to check whether the exam given is the exam you are supposed to start.
You are only allowed to use a pencil for filling out the multiple choice form.
You are only allowed to start the exam before the examiner has given permission for
this.
You are supposed to read all the questions and corresponding answer possibilities
carefully before answering the question on the answer form.
Important!
It is not allowed to have any communication equipment,- cell phones, audio and/or
video recording equipment- in the examination room in your possession.

If it is determined during the tests that you have such equipment with you, your
participation will be ended immediately and your exam will be declared invalid
whereas you will still have to pay for the exam fully.
Candidates whose phone rings during the exam or by whom the possession of such
equipment is discovered, will not receive the results of their exam and consequently will
not receive any certificate.
It is not allowed to have any materials on your table other than these exam rules and
the necessities given by the examiner.
It is prohibited to talk with other candidates, to look at each other work or to borrow
something from each other without permission of the examiner.
Smoking is not allowed.
Portable audio devices and/or means of communication (cell phones, pager, buzzers
etc.) are prohibited in the examination room unless switched off.
In case you have any questions or comments during the exam, you should raise your
hand. The examiner will approach you to answer your question.
It is not allowed to exit the examination room during the exam. Yet if you find this
necessary for any reason, you must ask the examiner for permission the exit the
examination room. Leaving the examination room means that you have finalized the
exam.
In case you do not follow these exam rules and instructions of the examiner strictly
your participation can be ended immediately and be declared as invalid.
10. Content of the exam
The answer form consists of several answer blocks of which the numbers are corresponding
with the numbers of the exam questions. Each answer block has several boxes which are
corresponding with the answer possibilities of each question. Fill the box with pencil of the
answer you think is right. In case you have not filled in a box your answer is considered to be
wrong. In case you fill in more than 1 box your answer is also considered to be wrong. In case
you would like to change an answer you have to erase the previous answer and make your
new choice.

11. Hinder or fraud
You need to take care that other candidates are not disturbed by you. Therefore it is not
allowed to talk and mobile phones has to be switched off. In case you disturb or in case you
are a nuisance the examiner has the right to end your participation immediately and declare
your exam as invalid.
In case you are caught on fraud (cheating etc.) your participation will be terminated
immediately and declared invalid.
If you take part in the exam in an illegitimate manner or commit acts of fraud prior to, during
o rafter the examination, you can be sanctioned by an examiner. Possible sanctions are
exclusions or being regarded as not having taking part in the exam. Your answers will not be
corrected and you won’t receive a result.
12. End of exam
Once you have finalized your exam you raise your hand to make it clear to the examiner. The
examiner will approach you or will give you permission to approach him/her. Next you will
hand over the exam and answer form to the examiner.
As soon as the maximum allotted time has expired the examiner will collect the exam and
answer from even so when you have not yet answered all the questions.
13. Exam result
The examination made by you will be assessed by the Examination Institute within 4 working
days after your exam date. In general you will receive the result by e- mail 4 working days
after your exam.
Approx. 3 working days after your exam as off 16:00 hrs you may find your result at
http://www.vcadirect.nl/vca-uitslag/.
In case you passed you will be granted a certificate number by the Examination Institute
approx. 1 week after your exam date. This number will be registered at the official VCA
Register. You can consult the VCA Register through http://www.vca.ssvv.nl.
In case you did not pass the exam we advise you to subscribe for a new exam as soon as
possible. You can book your exam through www.vcadirect.com.

14. Certificate
Validity
The VCA certificate has a validity of 10 years. The certificate is valid in The Netherlands.
Belgium, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
Posting
The certificate & pass are produced by the Examination Institute and are sent to PlusPort. We
will then check whether you or your employer has paid the invoice. If this is the case, we will
sent the certificate & pass in credit card size to the address which you have given us. In
general you will receive your certificate 3 weeks after your exam date.
!!Important!!
Unfortunately it happens that mail does not arrive. In case you did not receive your
certificate 3 weeks after your exam date please contact our Customer Support
immediately. Sent an e-mail to [email protected] mentioning your name, date
of birth, which exam you have done, on which date and which city and that you did not yet
receive your certificate. We will have a look into the reason and get in touch with you.
Your details in the CDR Register
The details that you gave us will be on your diploma. In the introduction of the exam you
were asked to check your details on the exam form. If you would like to change the details on
you diploma you will have to meet these rules.
Within 4 weeks after your exam you can contact our Customer Support through
[email protected]. Our customer support will make a request for a new
diploma. Meanwhile you will sent you old diploma back to us: PlusPort B.V., Gevers
Deynootweg 61, 2586 BJ Den Haag. You will receive a new certificate after we have received
the wrong diploma.
After 4 weeks you can make a request for changing your details at the ‘Centraal Diploma
Register VCA’. After you have paid them € 10,00 you can fill in a changings form and you can
sent this to VCA Infra ([email protected]) PBNA will have to take care that the details will be
the same as VCA Infra. After 4 weeks the changing will have to be done through CDR first.
When you have received an email back from VCA Infra that your details has been changed,
you can sent us an email with the request for your new exam. Our Customer Support will
make the request at PBNA for the new certificate. The replacement diploma will be sent after
received the wrong certificate.

15. Complaint about the exam
If you want to file a complaint about the exam and/or about the course of events during the
exam this has to be done in writing, addressed to the Examination Institute. You should ask
the examiner for the form.
You complete the form and send it to the address published on the form. The examination
institute will take your complain and get in touch with you.
The Examination Institute will ensure that complaints about the content of the exam will be
sent to the ‘’VCA- Examenbank’’ (ECABO) in case of an VCA Exam. All other complaints will be
dealt with by the Examination Institute.
16. Appeal against the result of your exam
If you want to appeal against the result of your exam file, you have the possibility to view
your exam. You can only view your exam at the office of ECABO at Amersfoort, the
Netherlands.
To view the exam following procedure is applicable:
1. You send an e-mail to [email protected] mentioning you require to view
your exam
2. We contact the examination institute and ask this institute to make an appointment for
you at the ECABO (only examination institutes are allowed to make appointments)
3. The examination institute will arrange an appointment for you
4. Prior to your visit to ECABO you have to send a copy of your valid ID to ECABO
5. After ECABO received the copy of your valid ID ECABO proposes several dates for your
visit to ECABO at Amersfoort, the Netherlands
6. You have 30 minutes to view your exam
7. You are not allowed to make notes or copy your exam
8. You are not allowed to take someone with you to join you viewing the exam
From experience we advise you not to start the procedure of viewing the exam since you will
get different questions at your next exam. Instead we advise you to through the theory
thoroughly and enrol for another exam.

17. General conditions
Although already communicated on our website as well as in the confirmation owe mention
again that on all entries our General Course Conditions apply.
