Course Entry Requirements

Course Entry Requirements St Philomena’s Sixth Form Entrance Requirements 2015

In order to study AS levels students must gain 8 GCSE passes at Grade A*-C including English Language and Mathematics at Grade C or above. BTEC Extended Diploma To undertake BTEC Level 3 courses, students must gain at least 5 grade C’s at GCSE and MUST continue to study GCSE Mathematics and English Language if a C grade has not been achieved. For your information The Government has reformed A levels to ensure that they prepare students better for future choices in either Further Education or Higher Education or employment. The new A levels will be linear qualifications that ensure students develop the skills and knowledge needed for progression to undergraduate study. As a result, St Philomena’s Sixth Form will be offering A levels that reflect the changes made by the Government to the following subjects:

These new A levels are to be fully linear with more synoptic assessment. They will be taken over two years, with students sitting their exams at the end of the course. AS levels will be stand-alone qualifications and will no longer contribute to an A level grade.
