COURSE INFORMATION:

Instructor: Randall Alford , CKTP, CKTI, OTR/L, CHT, CHTRandall is a graduate of Texas Woman’s University, practicing since1994. He has been a Kinesio Taping instructor since 2003 and hastaught throughout the country. He is in private practice in BatonRouge, LA., as the Director of Hand Therapy for the Physical Therapyand Hand Center, treating primarily orthopaedic and sports injuries ofthe upper extremity. He has taught courses and been a guest lecturerat the LSUHSC for Occupational Therapy in New Orleans, and atLSU. Randall provides numerous lectures and in services on UEevaluation and treatment, mobilizations, and splinting in the local andprofessional community.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

KT1 FUNDAMENTAL CONCEPTS, SCREENING/MUSCLE TEST,& MUSCLE APPLICATIONS(To be taken in conjunction with KT2)

The KT1 course is designed to introduce practitioners to the KinesioTaping Method. Over the course of this eight-hour class, the CertifiedKinesio Taping Instructor (CKTI) will discuss the fundamentalconcepts of the Kinesio Taping Method and the unique properties anduse of Kinesio Tex Tape. During lab sessions, attendees will haveample time to practice screening and muscle testing created for theenhancement of their Kinesio Taping skills and muscle applicationsfor both the upper and lower body. Upon completion of this course,attendees will be able to discuss and apply the Kinesio TapingMethod to relax overuse syndromes, stimulate weak muscles, anddecrease pain and swelling. In addition to instruction provided by theCKTI, the attendees will receive the full-color Kinesio Taping KT1 &KT2 Workbook to augment their training. Each attendee will alsoreceive a 60-day membership to the Kinesio Taping Associationwhich includes access to a reference database.

KT2 ADVANCED CONCEPTS & CORRECTIVE TECHNIQUES(Pre-requisite, completion of KTA approved KT1 course)

The KT2 course builds on material learned in KT1. During this eight-hour class, the CKTI will introduce the six Corrective Techniques(Mechanical, Functional, Space, Fascia, Ligament/Tendon, andLymphatic) and discuss their application in a variety of clinicalconditions. During lab sessions, attendees will have ample time topractice applying these techniques to a variety of upper and lowerbody conditions. Upon completion of this course, attendees will beable to discuss and apply the Kinesio Taping Method to orthopedic &neurological conditions.
