GCSEs are changing in 2010, and you will have the choice to teach either English (one GCSE) or English Language and English Literature (two GCSEs). 2010 will also see the introduction of Controlled Assessment, a new unit on Spoken Language, and the integration of Functional Skills.

Why choose OCR?

Of all GCSE English specifi cations on offer, OCR’s are the most fl exible, simple, and teacher-friendly.

The clearest and simplest specifi cation.

Link Shakespeare with a fi lm or audio version.

Sensible approach to poetry: the only board to offer the choice between unseen poetry and Anthology poems.

Compare only two poems by the same poet in the linked heritage texts unit.

OCR offers all units in January and June – choice between linear and modular.

Up to 80% ‘co-teachability’ between English and English Language.

Option to pick your own set texts or choose from the extensive list.

Links between Spoken Language and Speaking& Listening.

A choice of question types in the literature papers.

OCR support includes a Guide to Controlled Assessment, a Guide to Curriculum Planning, and a dedicated English Support Line.
