Course Description This transradial course combines a thorough didactic presentation with ‘hands-on’ procedural training. The course will allow attendees to perform transradial access and cardiac catheter manipulation. Attendees will discuss important aspects of the transradial approach, including device selection and room set up, catheter manipulation, tips and tricks and overcoming pitfalls. Attendees are encouraged to ask questions and engage Drs. Rollefson and Mego throughout the day. Upon leaving, each attendee will receive a memory stick containing a PowerPoint presentation on the important aspects of the transradial approach, 2 nd Edition, Patel’s Atlas of Transradial Intervention: The Basics and Beyond by Dr. Tejas Patel, and a Certificate of Completion. William Aimar Rollefson, MD, FACCDr. Rollefson is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Interventional Cardiology and is certified as an ACLS Instructor. A native of Little Rock, Dr. Rollefson graduated from Hendrix College in Conway, AR, before earning his Medical Degree with honors from University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock in 1991. He then went to Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu to complete both is Internship and Residency. He completed his Fellowship in Cardiology at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio. Dr. Rollefson remained at Brooke Army Medical Center for several years as Director of Cardiovascular Interventions before coming to Arkansas Heart Hospital Clinic. The recipient of numerous awards (including Outstanding Staff Teacher and Outstanding Original Research), Dr. Rollefson has been well recognized for his talents in medicine, teaching and research.

David Michael Mego, MD, FACC, FACP, FSCAIDr. Mego graduated from Washington and Jefferson College in his native Pennsylvania before getting his M.D. from Harvard Medical School. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency and Cardiology Fellowship at Brooke Army Medical Center before completing his Fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at the University of Texas in San Antonio. During his training, Dr. Mego served as Chief of Residents and earned the Commander’s Award for Outstanding Fellow Teacher. As a staff cardiologist, he held several positions at Brooke including Director of the Cardiac Transplant Program, Director of Echocardiography, and Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology. Now a partner at Arkansas Heart Hospital Clinic and Assistant Medical Director at Arkansas Heart Hospital, he is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, the American College of Cardiology and the Society of Cardiac Angiography and Interventions. Dr. Mego remains dedicated to continuing medical education and to clinical research, and his work has appeared in numerous publications.
