IntroductionAviatas provides web based and instructor led training as well as training consultancy services. Our team of highly experienced instructors can provide the training when and where you require it.
SERVICES AVIATAS CAN OFFER YOU.At Aviatas we pride ourselves with the service we provide to our customers, these include;
eLearningOnline or eLearning is a very cost effective method of providing training in a large range of subjects. Although not ideal for all train-ing subjects, eLearning can provide training when and where you need it, saving time, travel and accommodation costs.
Our wide range of courses for commercial, business and general aviation covers subjects as diverse as Volcanic Ash to the 24 hour clock.
Our courses can be provide “off the shelf”, customised to your requirements, regulations and operations or we can develop be-spoke courseware to meet you exact needs.
All our courseware is available in the standard AICC, SCORM (1.2 & 2004) & TinCan formats that can be hosted on your learning systems. Alternatively we can host the courseware on our own Learning Management System, giving you full access to reports of student progress. Our Learning Management System provides user management and performance tracking for individuals or groups of learners with reliable 24/7 access.
Instructor Led TrainingWe believe that some subjects are not suitable to be presented remotely by eLearning, they need to given face to face, for example Crew Resource Management. For these courses we can provide Pilot, Cabin Crew, Aviation Security and Dangerous Goods instruc-tors for your training, or alternatively provide courseware to be delivered by your own instructors*.
All our instructors are qualified and highly experienced in the subject areas that they present.
Blended Delivery A blended learning strategy, which incorporates Instructor Led training and eLearning can be the most appropriate choice for some subjects. In some subjects this provides a more comprehensive training experience leading to more effective training. We can pro-vide you with the instructors and courseware for your needs.
Learning Management Systems (LMS) A Learning Management System (LMS) is a central repository and control point of all your training, it can hosts online courseware so that it can be accessed 24/7 providing the students with a single point of access to courses and learning material. An LMS tracks student progress, allows interaction and provides reports on individual or groups both instructor led and online eLearning.
Having installed LMS’s for some of the worlds leading airlines, we have the expertise to provide you with a simple effective method of tracking your employees training. We can build the system to your requirements, integrating it into systems, hosting it on your servers or alternatively we can host it for you.
Training Needs Analysis(TNA)Introducing new equipment or procedures? Want to change behaviour ? Need a new course or think there is a gap in your training? If you have any of these issues but are not sure how to proceed, then we can help.
Our team can carry out Training Needs Analysis to find the best solution for closing the gaps between where you are and where you want to be.
Training ConsultancyWith a multilingual, multitalented team of experienced aviation instructional designers and instructors, we can help you with all your training needs.
* Dependent on your local Aviation Authority regulations, CRM, Security and Dangerous Goods instructors and courses may need to be approved by the authority.

ELEARNINGWith traditional training, the more people being trained and the more geographically dispersed they are then the greater the train-ing costs are going to be.
You can save Time & Money as well as improve consistency of training by providing your staff with training on-line, also known as eLearning.
eLearning has a number of advantages, these include;• Training - Anywhere, Anytime.• Substantial savings due to elimination of travel and expenses.• Just In Time (JIT) training.• Quick reaction to new training requirements.• Higher retention.• Online training is less intimidating than Instructor Led courses.
Saving Time and MoneyMuch of the cost of training is not the training itself but the travel, accommodation and per diem as well as the investment in train-ing rooms and equipment. With eLearning the vast majority of your training budget can go into training.
eLearning allows the students to concentrate on the training and focus on the information they need. Many studies have shown that eLearning can save up to 40% in time alone.
Improve Productivity & ResponseWith eLearning the students can receive training anytime and from anywhere. Crew can train during down time and can be sched-uled so that it does not interfere with operations. Need to undertake urgent time critical training then eLearning is the answer. Training can be rolled out quickly to everyone at once. eLearning gives consistent training that is easy to track and document.
Evaluating the TrainingTracking and measurement is built in to the LMS, plus pre and post training assessments can be incorporated, answers can be analysed by individual, group and course.
Off The Shelf CoursesWe can provide you with a large range of “Off the Shelf” eLearning courses to be hosted on your LMS or alternatively we can host it for you on our LMS.
Customised CoursesWe can customise our Off the Shelf courses to your requirements, to include your companies procedures, colour schemes and logos. Courses can also be provided in French, German & Spanish as well as English, other languages are available on request.
Custom CoursesWe can also build courses to your requirements. Using your or our SMEs. Contact Us for more details.

LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS (LMS)Learning Management Systems (LMS) is a software application for the administration, documentation, tracking, and reporting of training programs, classroom and online events, e-learning programs, and training content.
LMS FeaturesSome of the features of a LMS include:-
• Manage users, roles, courses, instructors, facilities, and generate reports.• Course calendar.• Learning Paths.• Student messaging and notifications.• Assessment and testing handling before and after testing.• Display scores and transcripts.• Grading of coursework and roster processing, including waitlisting.• Web-based or blended course delivery.
We have extensive experience of installing LMS systems for our clients, to be hosted on their own systems or hosted by one of our partners.
Self Hosted LMSWe can install or help your IT department install the LMS onto your servers and help set up and integrate the system into you IT infrastructure. Care must be taken in the deployment of a LMS and a careful analysis of your students and business requirements must be undertaken.
Hosted LMSAlternatively we can host your training on our LMS which can be customized with your colour schemes and logos. We give support 24/7 to the system, ensuring it has a 99.9% availability.
Operations / Training PortalWe can provide a full integrated Operations & Training portal that includes site areas for departments, operations, fleets etc. As well as being integrated with the LMS the site can host document libraries, wikis, forums, blogs, message boards etc.
A training portal gives your personnel access to all the information they need in one place.
Whichever option you choose you have full control over your students, including enrolment and tracking of progress and full train-ing is provided to your administrators and managers.
Our LMS’s and courseware are fully AICC & SCORM 1.2 & 2004 eLearning standards compliant.
An LMS can save you moneyCan an LMS really save you money? See the questions listed below, If you answer yes to any of these then an LMS can save you money! Do you have a workforce spread around the country or world ?
• Does your workforce travel for training?• Do you have physical classrooms?• Do you have training needs that change constantly?• Does your workforce have ‘Standby’ time?
How does a LMS and eLearning save you money? • Reduced or eliminated travel cost.• Reduced or eliminated travel time.• Reduce training time.• Provide training consistency.• Provide ‘Just In Time’ training.• Respond quickly to new training requirements.• Reduced physical infrastructure.• Reduced overheads.

TRAINING NEEDS ANALYSISIf you are introducing new equipment or procedures, or want to change behaviour then often training is needed.
Alternatively you may have identified a gap in your training and want to fill it.
If you have any of these issues but are not sure how to proceed, then we can help.
What is a Training Needs Analysis ?A Training Needs Analysis (TNA) is used to assess an organization’s training needs.
The root of the TNA is the gap analysis. A gap analysis is an assessment of the gap between the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that the people in your organization currently possess and the knowledge, skills and attitudes that they require to meet the organiza-tion’s objectives.
The output of the needs analysis will be a document that specifies how, why, what, who, when and where training needs to be put in place to close the gap. The TNA may indeed recommend that training is not the solution to close the gap.
Specifically, the document will need to answer these questions:• why do people need the training? • what skills need imparting? • who needs the training? • when will they need the new skills? • where may the training be conducted? and • how may the new skills be imparted?
There are so many ways for conducting a Training Needs Analysis, depending on your situation.
To find out how we can help you with TNA then please contact us for a no obligation free consultancy.
Whatever your Aviation training needs we can help.
All training meets EASA, DfT and IATA requirements (FAA or other aviation authorities on request).

eersSir Frank Whittle
Air Commodore Sir Frank Whittle, OM, KBE, CB, FRS, Hon FRAeS (1 June 1907 – 9 August 1996) was a British Royal Air Force (RAF) officer. Frank Whittle invented the jet engine in 1932. Whittle is hailed as a father of jet propulsion.
From an early age Whittle demonstrated an aptitude for engineering and an interest in flying. Determined to be a pilot, he overcame his physical limitations to be accepted into the RAF where his abilities earned him a place on the officer training course at Cranwell.
He excelled in his studies and became an accomplished pilot. While writing his thesis there he formulated the fundamental concepts that led to the creation of the jet engine, taking out a patent on his design in 1930. His performance on an officers’ engineering course bought him a place on a further course at the University of Cambridge where he graduated with a First.
The Father of the Jet Engine
Without Air Ministry support, he and two retired RAF servicemen formed Power Jets Ltd to build his engine with assistance from the firm of British Thomson-Houston. Despite limited funding, a prototype was created which first ran in 1937. Official inter-est was forthcoming following this success with contracts being placed to develop further engines, but the continuing stress seri-ously affected Whittle’s health, eventually resulting in a nervous breakdown in 1940. In 1944 when Power Jets was nationalized he again suffered a nervous breakdown, and resigned from the board in 1946.

Gloster E28 / 39 The first British Jet Aircraft.
Gloster Meteor. The first British Jet Fighter.
In 1948 Whittle retired from the RAF and received a knighthood. He joined BOAC as a technical advisor before working as an engineering specialist in one of Shell Oil’s subsidiaries followed by a position with Bristol Aero Engines. After emigrating to the U.S. in 1976 he accepted the position of NAVAIR Research Professor at the United States Naval Academy from 1977–1979. In August 1996, Whittle died of lung cancer at his home in Columbia, Maryland.
Gloster E28/39In September 1939, the Air Ministry issued a specification to Glo-ster for an aircraft to test one of Frank Whittle’s turbojet designs in flight. The E.28/39 name comes from the aircraft having been built to the 28th “Experimental” specification issued by the Air Min-istry in 1939. Working closely with Whittle, Gloster’s chief designer George Carter laid out a small low-wing aircraft of conventional configuration. The jet intake was in the nose, and the tail-fin and elevators were mounted above the jet-pipe. A contract for two pro-totypes was signed by the Air Ministry on 3 February 1940 and the first of these was completed by April 1941.
The first prototype continued flight tests until 1944. By that time, more advanced turbojet-powered aircraft were available. Although the Gloster E.28/39 was not able to achieve high speeds, it proved to be a capable experimental platform and exhibited a “good climb rate and ceiling”. Moreover, experience with the E.28/39 paved the way for Britain’s first operational jet fighter aircraft, the Gloster Meteor. This featured the Rolls-Royce Welland engine, the next stage from the Power Jets W.1.
Gloster MeteorThe Gloster Meteor was the first British jet fighter and the Allies’ first operational jet. Designed by George Carter, it first flew in 1943 and commenced operations on 27 July 1944 with 616 Squadron of the Royal Air Force (RAF). The Gloster Meteor was not an aerodynamically advanced aircraft but the Gloster design team succeeded in produc-ing an effective jet fighter that served the RAF and other air forces for decades. Me-teors saw action with the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) in the Korean War and re-mained in service with numerous air forces until the 1970s. Two Meteors, WL419 and WA638, remain in service with the Martin-Baker company as ejection seat testbeds.
