“MOZART’S MARRIAGE OF FIGARO ” with Peter Subers,Mark Buckholtz, and singers from Hubbard Hall Opera TheaterJoin Music from Salem on Sunday,July 20, 4pm at Hubbard Hallor a discussion of Mozart’s joyous comic opera “The Marriage of

Figaro”. From the dizzying opening notes of its overture to its gloriousinal ensemble, this masterwork is foremost about love: marriedove, parental love, lost love, neglected love, misplaced love, loveone astray, unrequited love and love that is ultimately forgivingnd redemptive - all in the space of a single madcap day! But hisharacters are not just sweet, funny and furious; in them weecognize our own humanity and end up caring profoundly about

what happens to them. Mozart wraps the story with music that isnchanting, witty and wise, and that has charmed us since the fi rstme it was heard in 1786. And a very special treat – guest artistsrom Hubbard Hall Opera Theater will delight us with their fabulousinging, in anticipation of their production of the opera at Hubbard

Hall in August. Open to all. No musical background necessary; just

ome and enjoy! The July 20 Listening Club will take place at 4:00pmt the Hubbard Hall Mainstage, 25 E. Main St., Cambridge, NY.Cost is $10. Pay at door, or make reservations atwww.hubbardhall.org or 518-677-2495 Located at 25 East Main

PERRY’S

AUTOMOTIVE

“Hometown

Auto Care” The 8-foot corn stalks on Bill Long’s farm are so big, green and healthy that he wishes he’d soldmore of it sooner.Like many growers across the country, Long expects a second straight record crop that will boostdomestic stockpiles already at a four-year high. Output in the U.S. will jump 2.8 percent to 14.314billion bushels, the most ever, researcher The Linn Group Inc. estimated in a July 1 report. Evenafter fewer acres were planted, a wet June left fields in the best condition since 2003 and sentprices into a bear market two months before the harvest starts. Two years removed from a devastatingdrought that damaged crops and sent pricessurging, farmers will see yields rise 4.1percent to an all-time high of 165.3 bushelsan acre, government data show. Rising grainoutput in the U.S., the world’s largest

producer, is keeping global food prices incheck while boosting profit for meatproducers including Tyson Foods Inc. andmakers of sweeteners and ethanol includingArcher-Daniels-Midland Co. Not suprising, then, Futures have tumbled 20 percent sincethe end of April, slipping into a bear marketon July 3 to $4.1525 on the Chicago Board of Trade, after touching $4.145, the lowest since Jan. 10.The Bloomberg Commodity Index of 22 raw materials dropped 2.6 percent over the same period, while the MSCI World Index of equities advanced 4.7 percent. The Bloomberg Treasury indexgained 0.3 percent.
