12th Annual Basket Weave-In Saturday, January 25, 2014– 7:45 am - 5:30 pm Sunday, January 26, 2014– 8:30 am - 2:30 pm At Person High School Cafeteria, Roxboro, NC
Come for a fun-filled day of basket weaving and fellowship!
Enclosed you will find a registration packet including a photo brochure and description of our basket offerings.
We offer baskets for all skill levels. Please select baskets in order of preference. We will do our best to honor your priority selections if at all possible.
Be sure to bring standard basketmaking tools and a water bucket. Any special equipment needed will be noted on the brochure.
Light snacks and beverages will be available for you throughout both days courtesy of Country Weavers. On Saturday, registration and breakfast will be from 7:45-8:15 am and lunch from 12:30-1:30 pm. On Sunday, lunch will be served from 12:00-12:30 am.
There will be a raffle and everyone gets a “Check-In Surprise.” Some of the teachers will be vending.

Now comes the hard part! Browse through the brochure and pick the baskets you would like to weave. The day and time are noted in the description of each basket. Remember, on Saturday you have a choice of 2 classes (morning and afternoon) or 1 class (all day). Make sure your registration form notes your preference. Complete the registration form and mail it in as quickly as possible. Classes are assigned on a first received, first assigned basis.
Sweetgrass Pencil Cup Barbara McCormick $50 Create a piece of Low Country history that can be seen in your office daily with a useful pencil cup. Sweetgrass baskets are coiled of sweetgrass and southern long leaf pine needles and lashed with palmetto strips. NO WATER REQUIRED!!! Only scissors are needed.

The Water Pitcher Kim Clayton $40 The Water Pitcher begins on a six inch slotted base and incorporates weaving techniques of chase weaving, smocking, shaping and finishes up with a twist-wrap handle. Insert a vase (included in the kit) inside the basket to hold water for fresh-cut flowers! Saturday Morning 8:30-12:30 All levels
Zig Zag Twill Kay Harriger $30 2 ¼” H on a 2” wood base Practice your shaping and see where your surprise color will show up. Do your own design and see how many zigs or zags you get. All tools will be supplied to be used in class. An OTT light is useful. Saturday Morning 8:30-12:30 All levels
Crossroads Hazel Coleman $45
Made on a 5 x 25 long base with 2 dandee handles. It has chase weaving in the bottom and crosses on the sides. It can be used on a mantle or long buffet. There will be several color choices. Saturday Morning 8:30-12:30 All levels
Woven Stool Montina Aldridge $45 This is a regular size foot stool. It is woven in the herringbone pattern. Very sturdy. Nice stool for a small child or for putting your feet up. Saturday Morning 8:30-12:30 All levels
Pottery Bowl with Gretchen Border Ginger McGhee $35 Entire class time will be weaving a Gretchen Border on top of the pottery bowl. Bowl will be between 6 and 8 inches. A variety of colors will be available for the pottery bowl (except no yellow). Some experience in braided borders helpful but not necessary. Just have patience! Shoulder Tote Basket Debbie Pergerson $45 This basket is made on a 5 x 10 wooden base and is 7” tall. The long leather strap makes it a great over the shoulder tote for packing your lunch or carrying your little necessities. Accent colors may vary. Saturday Morning 8:30 – 12:30 All levels
Spinning My Wheels Penny Burchfield $35 This basket is woven on a 4 x 10 racetrack shaped pine base. It stands 5” tall w/o handle. You will learn to weave an old favorite “Cherokee Wheels” with success. Topping it off with a 5” round top push-in handle, you’ll also learn to wrap it in the grip for a finished look. Various colors will be offered. Saturday Afternoon 1:30 – 5:30 Intermediate level
Bloomin’ Violets Kim Clayton $45 Who needs a green thumb when you can weave the flowers right into your basket! Class will complete the 6” but materials for the 4” basket will be included for you to complete at home. Saturday Afternoon 1:30 – 5:30 All levels
Miniature Tools Kay Harriger $35
Woven on a wood base from scraped cane. Small metal tools tied to the front and double lashed with waxed linen. OTT lite is useful. All tools to be used are supplied. 1” x 2 ¾” x 2 1/8” h Saturday Afternoon 1:30-5:30 All levels
Sweetgrass Coasters (set of 4) Barbara McCormick $50 Create a set of sweetgrass coasters for entertaining or everyday use. Great for dinner parties and cookouts. Sweetgrass baskets are coiled of sweetgrass and Southern long leaf pine needles and lashed with palmetto strips. NO WATER REQUIRED!!! Only scissors are needed. Saturday Afternoon 1:30-5:30 All levels
Square Market Basket Ginger McGhee $32 This basket has a woven 8” square based. Height is approximately 7”. You will triple twine then weave in natural with 3 sets of color The basket has a unique rim. Fun to weave! Saturday Afternoon 1:30-5:30 All levels
Tote Basket Debbie Pergerson $50 Shopping, knitting, books, or whatever you need to carry, this is the perfect tote for you. This basket has a woven bottom and leather handles, accented with a woven pattern. Colors will vary. 6 1/2” x 13” x 9” Saturday Afternoon 1:30-5:30 All levels
Blue Jean Fun Jan Turner $40 This fun basket can be useful for so many different occasions, but I love to carry my crocheting in it! There will be some choices in belts or jean pockets as well as different colors. It measures 9” x 7” and is about 24” tall including the handles. 10” Egg Basket Jane Bradsher $65 This egg basket is made with two 10" round hoops glued together. Woven with flat, flat-oval, round, plain and colored reeds, seagrass. Several color choices available. I will pre-start for you, unless notified not to. Saturday All Day 8:30- 5:30 All levels
Jabez Basket Joni Dee Ross $60
The basket is 4” in diameter and about 4 ½” tall. The wood parts will be cherry, maple, or walnut. The staves are dyed and the weavers are space dyed, choice of colors. Many tips will be given to make weaving with dyed and space dyed cane easier. Teacher mold Saturday All Day 8:30- 5:30 All levels
Kamayas Choice Joni Dee Ross $115 space dyed/no handle $147 natural w/ handle Kamaya’s Choice has a wonderfully unique lid that is easy to make. The wood parts are cherry or walnut. Lots of tips to make working with space dyed easier. Saturday All Day 8:30- 5:30 All levels
Cherokee Duo Tika Tucker $75 Two intricate Cherokee twill designs, matted and framed together…crisp, elegant, challenging! Woven from a graph, bound with waxed linen twining and pressure mounted in a coordinating frame. One design will be completed in class, the other at your leisure. Choice of both designs and color suit the finished piece to you own décor, and make this wall hanging uniquely your own. Smokey Oblong Basket Jane Bradsher $38 Woven on an 8" x 12" oval slotted wood base, with a 14" tall square top push-in handle. Weavers are round, flat-oval, plain and smoky color reed, (unless other color requested) basket size approx. 13" x 9" x8 1/2" tall, approx. 43" in dia. SUNDAY 8:30-2:30 All levels
At The Cross Penny Burchfield $55 In this class you will learn to weave a cross-bottom base up to a round top basket finishing at 8” h with a wide opening measuring 16” across, circumference is 51”. Attention to dyed reed placement in order to get the 3 crosses on each side. Leather handles will be added during rimming along with double lashing for added strength. Various colors will be offered. SUNDAY 8:30-2:30 Intermediate level
Around the Table Hazel Coleman $42
Made on a 10” round base attached to a lazy susan. It has four dividers and can be used for a vase of flowers, napkins, silverware, or whatever you use on a regular basis. Also handy on a desk for pencils, etc. Choice of colors. Sunday 8:30-2:30 All levels
Mini Cookie Cutter Kay Harriger $35 1 5/8” H x 7/8” wood base 2” across Woven on a wood base using scraped cane. Weave this basket and decorate with mini cookie cutters. All tools will be supplied to be used in class. An OTT light is useful. Sunday 8:30-2:30 All levels

Nantucket Tray Joni Dee Ross $50
This sweet tray is wonderful to make because the staves do not need tapering. Choice of cherry or walnut. An ivory plug is included in the cost. Lots of tips will be given to make Nantucket basket making easier. Basket is 5” diameter and 2” tall. Teacher mold. Sunday 8:30-2:30 All levels
Jim’s Nantucket Joni Dee Ross $52
This basket was created by accident due to my lack of forethought. Come hear the story and learn how to create baskets that have a different shape on your molds. Choice of cherry or walnut. Staves and weavers are cane. Lots of tips will be given in class to make Nantuckets easier to weave. 3” diameter, 4” tall including lid. Teacher mold. Sunday 8:30-2:30 All levels
Wine Purse Tika Tucker $75
Choice of color combinations for a one of a kind, multi-purpose basket. It carries two bottles of wine, you lunch, or is the perfect purse, and YOU get to decide on the interplay of color with your own weaving sequence!
