Slide 2 Country Music with a little edge. Slide 3 Miranda Leigh Lambert was born on November 10, 1983 in Longview, Texas and raised in Lindale, Texas a small town about 80 miles east of Dallas. Her father was a country guitarist (Rick Lambert) and a detective agency owner. Her mother (Beverly June Lambert) worked alongside her father when he became the owner of the agency. Miranda was raised in a house dedicated to country music. Slide 4 At age sixteen, Miranda began entering country talent contests, one of those including Johnny High Country Music Review in Arlington, Texas. After that experience Miranda went back home to ask her father to teach her how to play the guitar, so she could begin to write her own songs. She started a band called Texas Pride at the age of seventeen while she was in high school. Slide 5 In 2001, she received a lot of support and financial help from her family to help promote her first recording, an independent self-titled CD. Two years later in 2003, Miranda gained fame on the season of Nashville Star where she finished third place and was later signed to Epic Records. Slide 6 Kerosene was Mirandas first album The album reached number one on the Billboard Top Country Albums, which gained a Platinum certification for shipments of over one million copies. The album sold more than 930,000 up to July of 2008. Slide 7 Mirandas second album Crazy Ex-Girlfriend was released on May 9, 2007 The success established her as one of countrys bad girls. Her song Gunpowder and Lead was her highest charting single Slide 8 Crazy Ex-Girlfriend won an ACM award for Album of the Year in 2008 In September it was announced that Miranda led the nominations with 9 CMA awards On February 13, 2011 Miranda won a Grammy Award in the Best Female Country Vocal Performance category for The House That Built Me. Slide 9 Revolution is her most recent album, released on September 29, 2009. Rolling Stone magazine has praised Revolution saying Lambert remains countrys most refreshing act, and not just because she makes firearms seem like a matter-of-fact female accessory. Slide 10 Miranda has had great success with her music career and her songs that she has written or co- written seem to have gone far in popularity. She is well known in the country music era, and I believe she will continue to grow as a music artist and surprise us with more of her feisty ways. I am excited to see what she will come up with next! The song was released in March 2010 which was her third single from studio album, Revolution. The House That Built Me received three nominations at the 53 rd Grammy Awards. This song so far has become her most successful. Slide 13 The song has very touching meaning behind it. "It was so many mixed emotions during that time because we actually lost everything we owned. We actually lost a house that we built with our own hands." The House That Built Me is a song which I believe most would like to experience, if they had a good childhood. Slide 14 Music Choice Famous In A Small Town: 4 minutes The song is written by Travis Howard and co-written and recorded by country artist Miranda Lambert. It was released in April 2007 as the second single from her second studio album, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. Slide 15 Famous in a Small Town is a song that describes what life is in a small town. It is just as she says in the song everybody dies famous in a small town. Nothing seems to be a secret in a small town, everybody knows everybody and everything about each other Slide 16 Music Choice Kerosene: 3 minutes The song is written by Steve Earle and Miranda Lambert; produced by Frank Liddell and Mike Wrucke. The song was the first studio album, also titled Kerosene, by Miranda Lambert. Kerosene is a song that is about love that didnt end well. The song is hot, even the video is hot, fire included. Slide 17 Music Choice Heart Like Mine: 3 minutes The song is written by Travis Howard, Ashley Monroe and co- written by Miranda Lambert; produced by Frank Liddell and Mike Wrucke. The song debuted at number 58 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs chart for the week of January 8, 2011. Heart Like Mine best describes the kind of girl that you may look at her background and judge her for who she is, but she knows that Jesus would understand her background and who she has become today from everything. She may not be the best girl, she isnt innocent, may be a little wild, but in the end she has a good heart.
