Many ‘ride-on mowers’ rely on the air flow caused by the spinning blades to throw the lawn clippings into the grass catcher. This system can be noisy and inefficient. Damp grass can get clogged in the deck and discharge chute making for poor collection and an unacceptable finish.

The Countax cut and collection system works in a better way

The three hardened-steel blades* found in Countax IBS and Combi decks throw the clippings to the rear of the deck. The ejected grass is swept up by the spinning brushes of the Powered Grass Collector.

The Countax ‘system’ means that even wet grass can be cut and collected fully, with little risk of clogging. Leaves and hedge clippings can be quickly cleared from the lawn simply by driving over them with the collector engaged. There is a Powered Grass Collector available for all Countax tractors. Sizes range from 255 to 390 litres (dependent on tractor model).

Widely regarded as the quietest and most efficient collection system, the Countax Powered Grass Collector uses brushes to sweep up the grass cuttings.

The Powered Grass Collector is a highly versatile accessory. Along with grass clippings, it can also be used to collect leaves from your lawn.

For the larger, 390 litre Powered Grass Collector (optional for the A Series tractors), push button electric lift and emptying is a standard feature. All Countax Combi decks

can be converted into a high performance mulcher with the addition of an adapter plate.

Many British gardeners seek a striped finish for their main lawn. Not only do stripes look smart, they can also give the illusion of a longer, greener lawn.

Stripes are created by the contrasting colours of grass laid flat in one direction and then again in the opposite direction.

Stripes can be difficult to accomplish with a conventional rotary ride-on mower. Often a separate pass with a heavy lawn roller or ‘striping kit’ is required and results can be mixed.

A Countax tractor leaves a striped finish every time thanks to an integrated roller mounted within the body of the optional Powered Grass Collector.

Ultimate versatility – cut without collecting

When set in the mulching configuration, a Countax Combi deck mulches with a neat and tidy finish.

Most Countax garden tractors have mulching capability. Mulching is a method of mowing that keeps the grass inside the cutting chamber. Here the grass is cut multiple times.

The result? Ultra fine grass clippings which are pushed back into the turf. The mulched grass is hardly visible and after a short time, the clippings decompose and return valuable moisture and nutrients back to the roots of the grass.

Countax Combi decks can be configured to mulch with the application of an adapter plate. This accessory comes as standard with all Combi cutting decks.

The Countax Combi deck has three mulching compartments (the C350H Mini has a single blade). Grass clippings are lifted and cut several times. The fine grass clippings left behind release nutrients and moisture back into the soil.

Mulching is a faster alternative to cutting with collection. There is no stopping to empty the collector, but there is no stripe left behind.

The High Grass Mulching deck is the ultimate force in clearing dense areas of brush, scrub, nettles and even bramble.

A Countax High Grass Mulching (HGM) deck will easily take control of rougher areas where long grass, nettles or bramble take hold. It reduces dense, tall material to a layer of light mulch.

The Countax HGM deck uses the same principles as agricultural mulchers. Chains located at the front and rear prevent grass escaping and force material to encounter the six mulching blades. See pages 22-23 for compatibility.

Grass is trapped in the cutting chamber of the deck where the tough blades reduce it to a mulch.

The Countax four-wheel drive system (4TRAC) is found

on all ‘4WD’ tractor models. Having drive at all four

wheels means more grip, essential if you have slopes in

your garden or perhaps areas that can get muddy.

4TRAC senses the level of grip required at each wheel

and applies drive accordingly. We believe that 4TRAC is

the best four-wheel drive system available on the market.

Differential Lock, found on the A Series, locks the rear wheels to prevent wheel spin in tricky conditions.

Dashboard switches control the cutter deck, headlights and, on the A Series, electric PGC lift and emptying.

Countax only use premium specification engines, each selected for its power, economy and durability.

The cutting height lever is lightweight and allows you to accurately set the height of cut from 12mm - 101mm, depending on cutter deck (see specifications on pages 22-23).

The handbrake is an important safety feature. The tractor cannot be started unless the brake is engaged.

The power take-off (PTO) can be used to drive a range of powered accessories including a Scarifier (pictured), Powered Grass Collector and Broadcast Spreader.

The Operating Management System helps you get the best performance from your tractor with the maximum fuel efficiency (not available on the C350H Mini).

Foot controlled transmission. One pedal controls forward speed and the other is for reverse. The harder you press the pedal, the faster you travel.

C Series: 2WD Garden Tractors

The C Series has been Britain’s favourite range of garden tractor for over two decades. The core benefits of cutting and collecting in the wet, striping a lawn and the use of a machine 12 months of the year make the C Series the tractor of choice for thousands of customers.

Like all Countax garden tractors, a C Series is built to a much higher specification than most ‘ride-on lawnmowers’. It’s extra-tough – with its heavy duty, steel chassis and axles it’s designed to handle the rigours of continuous use.

The power take-off, found on all Countax tractors, drives a Powered Grass Collector, broadcast spreader or scarifier. Each unit is a valuable accessory that extends the use of the tractor.

The C350H is a C Series... only smaller

At just 86cm (34") wide, the C350H Mini is small enough to fit through a standard sized gateway. Its 76cm (30") Combi cutter deck is offset so that you can easily mow around trees and up to flower beds. The Mini utilises a smaller 255 litre Powered Grass Collector to keep the tractor profile within 86cm.

Benefits of a Countax C Series

C Series: 4WD Garden Tractors

As well as being a superb lawnmower a C Series is a tractor for your garden. It will drive powered accessories to scarify your lawn or pick up leaves in the autumn.

Four wheel drive extends the tractor’s utility even further. With a 4WD C Series you can take your Countax to places where most ‘ride-on mowers’ can’t go. Safely mow slopes that previously required a brushcutter to clear. Tow a trailer through a muddy copse or clear the snow from your drive.

As part of the Operating Management System, Electronic Slope Alert sounds an alarm and displays a warning before an incline too great for safe mowing is reached. Dynamic Traction Control avoids scuffing on your lawn by varying the speeds of the front wheels when turning.

Benefits of a Countax C Series 4WD

The A25-50HE is Countax’s largest petrol garden tractor. The 726cc Kawasaki engine drives a 127cm (50") Combi deck and an optional 390 litre Powered Grass Collector. The bigger deck and collector mean that this tractor can cut a larger area faster than the smaller C Series.

Suitable for grounds of around five acres or more, the A Series will make short work of mowing lawns, paddocks or orchards.

The extra-large collector is lifted and emptied via push button control. Its larger capacity means fewer trips to empty cuttings.

With large 58cm rear wheels and a differential lock, the A Series is comfortable to operate on inclines and won’t mark your turf.

Benefits of a Countax A Series

A Series: 2WD Diesel Garden Tractor

Mow larger areas of lawn with the new A230D. A 784cc Yanmar diesel engine is fuel efficient and, with the ability to run rebated red diesel*, an economical option for people with grounds of around five acres or more.

The high-torque, 3-cylinder diesel engine has abundant power and torque to cope with almost all cutting conditions.

Available with either a 127cm (50") Combi deck (for cutting with collection or mulching) or a 107cm (42") High Grass Mulching cutter, the A230D will mow a larger lawn or paddock faster than a smaller C Series tractor.

Differential lock, an important safety feature for control on slopes, is a standard feature and the optional 390 litre Powered Grass Collector has push-button electric lift and emptying.

HYBRID DRIVE

One tractor for multiple uses – the Countax High Grass Mulching tractor is the classic ‘all-rounder’ for owners of paddocks, orchards or rough ground. Not only will it cut tall grass and dense growth such as stinging nettles or bramble, it will also produce an excellent finish on a formal lawn.

The heavy-duty fabricated steel deck has been designed to handle tough material. Tall grass is flattened by heavy chains located at the front and rear of the deck. These chains ensure that all the grass is kept inside the cutting chamber until cut multiple times.

Use a High Grass Mulching tractor with an optional Powered Grass Collector and you can even mow a formal lawn and still leave a fantastic finish.

An automotive type ball hitch can be fitted to the tow bar. Tow trailers and other attachments with your garden tractor.

Powered scarifierPowered directly by the engine, the offset scarifier fits in place of the grass collector. Its spinning tines remove thatch and moss allowing the grass plant to recover and improving the overall condition of the lawn. The working height of the scarifier is fully adjustable and, with a 76cm (30") operating width, a lawn can be fully scarified as quickly as it would be mowed. The Powered Grass Collector can be used to sweep up waste material.

Powered Grass CollectorEven for those wanting to cut without collecting, the Powered Grass Collector is a useful option. It’s the quickest and most efficient way to collect leaves and garden debris and is invaluable for clearing up after scarifying. Brushing also stimulates turf, and prevents the formation of thatch, while the integrated roller leaves neat stripes.

Powered broadcast spreaderPowered by the tractor’s engine, the broadcast spreader has a hopper that holds up to 50kg of salt, sand or fertiliser. It can be used for applying weedkiller or fertiliser and quickly spreading salt on icy paths and tracks. Features an adjustable flow rate.
