We need MODIFIERS if we want to quantify uncountable nouns, e.g.:
a glass of water a bottle of wine a jar of marmelade 1, 2 ,5 litres of water a piece of furniture, etc. a loaf of bread (one loaf two loaves)
Nouns that are countable in Spanish but uncountable in English:
advice (‘consejo’) furniture (‘muebles’) news (‘noticias’) information work knowledge (‘conocimiento’)
