Stamp of your choice for background in middle section and an ink pad, colour of your choice. I used a sepia.

PAINTING INSTRUCTIONSUse appropriate color transfer paper as needed. Then use the 1" wash and base coat the front with Neutral Grey. You can paint the backside if necessary but not necessary. Sand lightly with sandpaper. Trace the fl ag portion and wide stripes.

Flag (top)Light stripes are based in Light Buttermilk using the #2. Shade the bottom part with Fawn using the #8.

Red stripes are based in Country Red and shade the bottom part with Soft Black. Base the star section in Uniform Blue using the #8. Stars are Snow White using the 18/0. Shade right side and bottom with Payne’s Grey using the #12.

Paint both green and blue areas as instructed below before continuing with the pattern.

Wide stripes are Payne’s Grey using the #8.

Uncle Sam (middle)Using the #1 wash, slip slap with Wasabi Green, Haus-er Medium Green and Light Buttermilk. Then tape of the top and bottom and stamp the background using Burnt Sienna, or if you feel adventurous, freehand a background! Trace Uncle Sam.

HATRed stripes are based in Country Red stripes using the #6, shade with Soft Black using the #10. Light stripes are based in Light Buttermilk using the #6 and shade with Fawn using the #10. Use the #6 and paint the blue portion in Deep Midnite Blue. Trace AMERI-CA and paint in Snow White using the 10/0.

FACEBase in Warm Beige using the #6. Using the #2, shade with Deep Blush to create the nose. Use the #0 blend-ing brush and dry brush White Peach inside the nose. Highlight with White Peach on the sides of the face us-ing the #6. Using the #2 blending brush and dry brush the cheeks with Heritage Brick. Eyes are Lamp Black using the stylus, and the 18/0 for the lid. Add a dot of Light Buttermilk in the eye with the stylus.

BEARD AND HAIRBase in Khaki Tan using the # 6 and # 10. Using the 10/0, line in with Bleached Sand, then with Buttermilk and fi nally with Snow White. Shade around the mus-tache with Burnt Umber using the #8.

COATBase in French Grey Blue using the #8. Shade by beard with Deep Midnite Blue using the #10, and highlight sides with Light Buttermilk.

Using the #1 wash, slip slap with Winter Blue, French Grey Blue and Light Buttermilk. Trace Grass area. Base in Hauser Medium Green using the #10. Highlight the tops with Wasabi Green and shade the center with Midnite Green using the #12. Trace the house, tree and sheep.

HOUSEBase the house in Golden Straw using the #12. (I like to tape the edges for a clean line). Shade the right side and below the roof with Burnt Sienna using the #12 and high-light with Light Buttermilk on the left side. Tape the roof and base in Lamp Black using the #12. Highlight the top with French Grey Blue using the #12. Base the chimneys in Bleached Sand using the #2 and 10/0 for the tops. Use the 10/0 and paint in random bricks in Heritage Bricks. Using the #8, shade with Khaki Tan and deepen with Burnt Umber. Highlight with Light Buttermilk.

Trace windows and doors. Using the #8, paint in win-dows with Lamp Black and base the door with Country Red. Shade the right side with Soft Black and highlight the left with Light Buttermilk using the #8. Line in the door handle in Lamp Black using the 18/0. Trim and smoke lines are Light Buttermilk, using the 10/0. Swag above door: line the branches in Burnt Umber using the 10/0. Using the same brush, add leaves in Midnite Green and Wasabi Green. Berries are Country Red using the stylus. Trace lights and base the part against the wall in Bleached Sand using the 10/0. Globes are Light But-termilk, using the 10/0, and add a line of Fawn using the 18/0 on the right side.

TREELine the trunk and branches in Burnt Umber using the 10/0. Leaves are Midnite Green, Wasabi Green and Hauser Medium Green using #2 fi lbert. Randomly double load with each colour.

SHEEPUsing the #2 blending brush, pounce in Light Butter-milk, and then with Snow White. Legs, muzzle and ear are Lamp Black using the 18/0. Dot the eye in with the stylus and Lamp Black. Shade backside with Khaki Tan using the #8.

TEXTTrace "Count Your Blessings" and paint in with Snow White using the 10/0.

FINISHINGSign and seal with Dura Clear Satin Varnish using the size 1 wash.
