The work plan sets out an extensive review of best practices, research and issueidentificationaswellasratepayerandindustryconsultation.Youcanfindtheworkplanhere.Afinalreportisexpectedinfall2015.LeadingaJane'sWalkwithKyleBaptista,LizRykertandCaitlinColsonoftheShapeMyCityteam!SignalSynchonizationAs I mentioned in a previous eNewsletter, in 2014 the city synchronized 224 traffic signals onsevenmajorcorridors,includingYonge,LeslieandSheppard.Overall, the 2014 work resulted in an estimated savings of $17 million in congestionrelatedcosts.This year, the city plans to synchronize signals at 350 intersections on 11 major corridors,bringingthefouryeartotaltonearly1,000.The synchronizations are part of the city's comprehensive Congestion Management Plan. AnupdateonthePlancamethroughthePublicWorksCommitteeearlierthissummer.The city will also be piloting next generation "smart signals" at 20 intersections.
