Cotswold Downs 2017 Club Championships

Over the past 2 days our beautiful course has tested players throughout all divisions to crown the

champion golfers of 2017. This year we had the best turnout for club champs in the nearly 5 years I

have been at Cotswold with a total of 95 entries. It was a special weekend where we introduced the

new Senior Club Champion trophy as well as a Junior Club Champion Trophy.

Saturday morning saw an early start at 06:30am off both tees with players eager to get the first tee

nerves out the way and start carding a couple of birdies! The players were greeted with stunning

weather and a fairly tough course setup as the scores showed throughout the first round. Below you

can find the top 2 players in each division after round 1.

After a tough day on Saturday the players were greeted with a completely different day on Sunday, a

friendly, short course setup but weather that was “for the ducks” as many of the players said. The

rain suits were out, extra towels, mittens, umbrella’s and most importantly the hot cappuccinos in

numbers to try and warm the bodies up! While it was a nice break from the heat experienced on

Saturday, the scoring was once again still tough for all players. The leader board shuffling all day long

with players moving up and down after some early birdies and 3 pointers were made, some players

hunting for flags while others just enjoying the tournament and keeping warm!
