COTOPAXI VOLCANO

The Geophysics Institute of the Polytechnic University reports that the Cotopaxi volcano continues to have a high level of internal activity and a moderate level of external activity. Emissions have continued with episodes of different durations, which have reached a height of 2,200 meters above the crater, and have contained steam, gas and ash (between low and moderate).

In the morning an important change was recorded in regards to the wind flow

denoting a change between northwest and northeast directions.

It was also reported that an ash cloud moved towards the zones between

Machachi, where ash falls were registered; as well as the Valle de los Chillos in

Rumiñahui. Volcanic dust fall was also reported in the parish El Chaupi in the

canton of Mejia.

Finally, we report that today there has been no presence of rain or lahars,

consequently, the yellow alert continues to be in place.

Technical Secretariat for Disabilities started the second phase of their census of

In addition, in the canton of Napo, residents of the parish of Talag participated in an evacuation simulation. Recommendations

If your pet was exposed to volcanic ash we recommend you to clean its eyes

and snout with a wet towel. In addition, we advise you to brush its hair to

remove ash from its skin and constantly moisten the nasal passages with water

or milk in order to counter the alkalinity of the environment.
