Costume and Props

There are a range of different costumes and props that we need in order to make our trailer realistic and conventional. For example props include: a fake gun, bin bags, flowers, pregnancy test, police badge and hand cuffs. All of these props are conventional of soap operas as they are part of some people’s everyday lives therefore they create a sense of verisimilitude. A representation of the character is then displayed and passed to the audience who interpret this in different ways. This is essential in soap operas as they need the audience to have varied opinions on characters in order for suspense and tension to build.
