The hotel dominates the seafront promenade in Viareggio, the “Pearl of the Tyrrhenian” and undisputed ‘capital’ of the Versilia resort and nightclub district. This is one of the best known areas anywhere in Tuscany, famed for its Carnival’s colourful masked races and for the international Puccini Festival organised every year in the open air on the banks of Massaciuccoli Lake at Torre del Lago, where Giacomo Puccini was born. The main cities of art in the area are all within easy reach: spectacular Florence is less than an hour’s drive away, Lucca 30 minutes and Pisa just 20 minutes, where the airport offers numerous connections to international destinations. It is also the ideal base to visit the famous Cinque Terre, which are an hour away by car.

Le principali città d’arte sono facilmente raggiungibili: la splendida Firenze è a meno di un’ora d’auto, Lucca a 30 minuti e a soli 20 minuti Pisa che con il suo aeroporto garantisce anche numerosi collegamenti con le principali destinazioni. Punto di partenza ideale anche per visitare le famose Cinque Terre che si raggiungono in un’ora d’auto.

This storied luxury hotel on the seafront promenade in Viareggio is a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World. Built in the early 1920s as the Select Palace Hotel, in 1925 two more floors and the magnificent corner facade were added, giving the building a sense of harmony and unity. In time it became a Grand Hotel with an international clientele, and a favourite place to stay for aristocrats, intellectuals and artists. Renamed Grand Hotel Principe di Piemonte in 1938, its elegance and style have won over numerous film directors through the years and it has been used as a location in several important films. Restored to the height of its charm in 2004 after 19 months’ refurbishment work, today the Principe is without doubt one of the world ’s most exclusive and refined historical hotels.
Storico e prestigioso hotel di lusso, che si affaccia sul lungomare di Viareggio, è membro di Small Luxury Hotels of the World. Sorto nei primissimi anni Venti con il nome di Select Palace Hotel, nel 1925 si innalza di due piani, impreziositi dal magnifico frontone che armonizza la parte centrale. Il tempo lo trasforma in un Grand Hotel di respiro internazionale e nella dimora favorita di aristocratici, intellettuali e artisti. Ribattezzato Grand Hotel Principe di Piemonte nel 1938, la sua eleganza seduce negli anni numerosi registi diventando teatro di prestigiose produzioni cinematografiche. Tornato all’apice del suo incanto nel 2004, dopo 19 mesi di restauro, oggi il Principe è indiscutibilmente tra gli Hotel storici più esclusivi e raffinati del mondo.

The 106 rooms, including 19 suites, on five floors decorated in different styles, represent an ideal cross-section of elegant hospitality over the ages, through to the contemporary design of the Rooftop stylish plunge pool. Eighteenth century France dominates the first floor, while on the second Art Deco holds away. The entire third floor is decked out in Colonial attire, while the fourth is dressed in neoclassical Empire style. The top floor favours modern designs and several rooms on it have magnificent sea view terraces.
Le 106 camere, di cui 19 suite, su cinque piani, arredati in stili differenti, compiono un percorso ideale attraverso l’elegante ospitalità di ogni epoca, fino alla luminosità contemporanea della piscina sul tetto. Il Settecento francese domina il primo piano, mentre al secondo impera lo stile Decò. Tutto in stile Coloniale, invece, il terzo piano, mentre il quarto è in stile Impero. L’ultimo piano, in stile moderno, con alcune camere dotate di una meravigliosa terrazza affacciata sul mare.
