5.0. AÑO 2005, de las 332 plazas, 247 están asignadas a un funcionario en propiedad, y 85 se encuentran vacantes. No es posible indicar la cantidad exacta de mujeres y hombres en puestos interinos por su movilidad, sin embargo es un aproximadote 50% cada uno. 5.0 AÑO 2006, de las 339 plazas, 238 están asignadas a un funcionario en propiedad y 101 se encuentran vacantes. Los casos con patología psiquiatrita mayor son atendidos por el sistema de Salud, en periodo de descompensación, incorporándose posteriormente a las diferentes cárceles del país; cuando el padecimiento sea crónico, el Juez Penal aplica medida de seguridad curativa de internamiento en el Hospital Nacional Psiquiátrico como alternativa a la prisión, esto según lo establece el artículo 100 del Código Pernal.
