NEUROSCIENCE and Effective Treatment of

ANXIETY DISORDERS

Page 2: COST TIME NEUROSCIENCE - Home | APS...OCD Workbook) and PTSD (Conquering Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, with Dr. Victoria Beckner) as well Improving Your Memory for Dummies; Consciousness,

In this training you will learn how to use the Brain-Based Therapy approach to treating Anxiety Disorders to educate your clients, make the goals of treatment understandable and achievable, and how to move fast towards recovery.

Using a synthesised model of neuroscience, attachment theory and evidence-based treatment, you will learn how to more effectively help clients with Anxiety Disorders such as GAD, Panic Disorder, OCD & PTSD.

Recent advances in neuroscience have increased our knowledge of how to help people with Anxiety Disorders. Brain-based Therapy synthesises neuroscience, evidence-based treatment, recovery, and attachment theory into a hybrid therapeutic model.

This model helps identify which elements of the research are effective and which may be counter-productive. This approach envisions the therapeutic process as brain changing and necessary to change mood and behaviour. The model proposes moving beyond the theoretical school paradigm. The role that brain function plays in mood, memory and behaviour will be identifi ed, including discussions on the difference between male and female brains, the middle aged brain and how alcohol affects the brain.

You will explore how you can use the most recent and up-to-date research on neuroscience to effectively help your clients who suffer from Anxiety Disorders, and how you can guide them through easy-to-complete exercises and accessible explanations, worksheets, refl ective questions, and meditations.

John Arden, PhD, is a clinical psychologist specialising in neuroscience. He is internationally-known and consistently rated as one of the most knowledgeable and insightful presenters. He is the author of 14 bestselling books, including Brain2Brain, The Brain Bible, Rewire Your Brain, Brain-Based Therapy with Adults and Brain-Based Therapy with Children and Adolescents. He presents workshops on brain-based therapy internationally and in the United States.

Dr Arden has written books on anxiety (The Brain-Based Anxiety Workbook), OCD (The Brain-Based OCD Workbook) and PTSD (Conquering Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, with Dr. Victoria Beckner) as well Improving Your Memory for Dummies; Consciousness, Dreams, Self: A Transdisciplinary Approach (winner of the Choice 1997 Outstanding Academic Book Award); and Science, Theology, and Consciousness. Dr Arden’s study of neuropsychology has inspired him to integrate neuroscience and psychotherapy, synthesising the biological and psychological aspects into a new vision for psychotherapy: Brain-Based Therapy. His work incorporates what is currently known about the brain and its capacities, including neuroplasticity and neurogenesis, with psychotherapy research, mindfulness, nutritional neuroscience and social intelligence.
