COS Emerging Artist AwardFounded in 1938 by the internationally renowned Irish composer, musicologist, conductor and scholar Aloys Fleischmann, Cork Orchestral Society has for the past eight decades dedicated itself to opening up the world of classical music to new and appreciative audiences. Being faithful to Aloys Fleischmann’s wish to support and promote young musicians, last season the society marked its 80th year by establishing the COS Emerging Artist Award, a new award to be given annually to a full-time CIT Cork School of Music student who, in the opinion of their mentors, has distinguished themselves in performance and typifies the high standards nurtured in the School. Each year the awardee will have a recital programmed as part of a COS concert season.
On November 29, Cork Orchestral Society will proudly present a performance by the recipient of the inaugural COS Emerging Artist Award, pianist Jordan Bagot, a twenty-two year old rising star of chamber music already honoured by multiple accolades in Ireland and abroad.
