Australian Code for the

Transport of Dangerous Goods by Road & Rail

Corrigendum 1

October 2011

ADG7 Corrigendum 1

ii

Purpose of this document

In producing the printed version of the 7th edition of the Australian Code for the Transport of Dangerous Goods

by Road & Rail, a number of printing errors occurred in the publication process. These errors are where what is

in the printed version of the Code (and in the version of the Code that was published on CD in 2007, and on the

National Transport Commission ("NTC") website) differs from the version of the Code that was approved by

the Australian Transport Council. This document corrects those errors.

An instance has also been discovered where the approved version of the Code contains a difference from the

United Nations Model Regulations (on which it was based) that was not deliberate, and this error is also

corrected in this document. Also, it was also thought appropriate to update information in the Code that relates

to such things as contact details for various government offices.

Authority of this document

This document is published by the NTC. The NTC is also the publisher of the Code. When corrected as

directed by this document, the Code will be in the form in which it was approved by the Australian Transport

Council, with the exception that, as described above, it will also include updated details of incidental matters.

Corrected version of the Code

It is unlikely that a hard-copy version of the Code that incorporates the correction of the errors identified in this

document will be published in the near future. However, in conjunction with the publication of this document,

the NTC published on its website (www.ntc.gov.au) an electronic version of the Code that incorporates the

correction of the errors identified in this document. That version also identifies all the differences that exist

between it and the printed version of the Code.

How this document differs from How the 2011 Electronic Version differs from the 2007 Printed Version

On the same day that it published this document, the NTC also published a document entitled How the 2011

Electronic Version differs from the 2007 Printed Version. That document is essentially the same as this

document, and sets out almost the same information that is set out in this document. However, it is designed to

be used by people who use the new electronic version of the Code as their primary reference source. That

version of the Code shows in red coloured font all the changes that are set out in this document. To find some of

the differences in the printed version of the Code, it is sometimes necessary to have more identifying

information available. Also in some cases, the same difference appears on different page numbers in the 2

versions. It should be noted that the Differences document was produced for information purposes only – this

document (Corrigendum 1) is the authoritative version of the corrections to the Code.

How this document is organised

In this document, the provisions where each correction occurs is identified, arranged in the sequence in which

they are encountered in the Code. The error which needs to be corrected is then identified, the correction is set

out, and where it was thought to be helpful, an explanation has also been included.

The NTC gratefully acknowledges the assistance of Greencap Consulting (Previously Noel Arnold &

Associates) in the preparation of this document.

Corrigendum 1

Document amended by this Corrigendum

This Corrigendum sets out corrections that are to be made to the 7th edition of the Australian Code for the Transport

of Dangerous Goods by Road & Rail, as published in 2007 by the National Transport Commission.

Use of symbol ""

In this document, if the following formulation appears: "‘expression1’‘expression 2’", it is to be read as if it

stated: "for ‘expression 1’ substitute ‘expression 2’".

General change

The Code used ellipses ("…") to indicate that the text of the Code did not include words that were in the UN Model

Regulations. All ellipses used for that purpose should be removed from the Code.

Specific changes

The following specific changes should be made to the Code:
