CHRISTIAN LEADERSHIP PROGRAM (CLP) SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2014-2015 ACADEMIC YEAR ARE NOW AVAILABLE ONLINE AT WWW.CCUP.ORG: Scholarships for Catholic Freshmen at the University of Toledo. Corpus Christi University Parish will again be offering $5,000 Christian Leadership Program Scholarships to twelve incoming Catholic freshmen at the University of Toledo. These students will also receive opportunities for spiritual formation, community service, and leadership training. The 2014-2015 scholarship application is now available online under the “student/faculty programs” link at www.ccup.org Any questions about the Christian Leadership Program can be directed to the program director: Father Phil Smith - [email protected] or 419.531.4992.

Infant Baptism: The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated after the 11 a.m. Mass on the fourth Sunday of the month. Registered parishioners are asked to make arrangements for the Baptismal Preparation Class and the Liturgical Celebration by calling the Parish Office.

Pastoral Care of the Sick: When a parishioner is confined to home because of age or infirmity, or in a hospital or nursing home, please call the parish office to arrange for Holy Communion to be brought to them. When one is seriously ill, the healing Presence of the Lord should be requested in the Sacrament of the Sick by calling the Parish office.

Matrimony: Anyone planning to be married must contact the Parish at least six months in advance. The exact date and time of your wedding should not be determined until after consultation with a priest or deacon. If either party has previously been civilly or religiously married, the Presider is not permitted to set a date for the wedding without resolving

Holy Orders: When a gentleman feels the call to follow the Lord as a Priest in the Catholic Church, he should call Monsignor Charles Singler, our Diocesan Vocation Director, as 419-244-6711 or speak to one of the Parish Priests. If the Permanent Diaconate is of interest to a gentleman he should call Deacon James Caruso, our Vicar for Deacons at 419-244-6711 or speak to one of the Deacons of the Parish.

Vocations Prayer: Gracious God, make me an instrument to encourage others to give of themselves and challenge me to do the same. Inspire men and women to respond generously to your call to service and leadership in your Church as priests, consecrated religious and deacons. Amen.

Religious Life: Consecrated women religious by their lives witness the joy of eternal union with God. Freed from earthly cares, they more fully manifest the Kingdom of God to all Christians. The structure of the vowed life frees consecrated women religious to live entirely for God and others. MUSIC MINISTRY: Anyone who sings or plays an instrument is invited to join in our Sunday celebration of the Eucharist. Music practice is held on Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m. Please contact Luke Rosen in the parish office for more information. Please view the parish on-line calender for a summer music practice schedule.

SOCIAL JUSTICE TITHE

This weekend: Servant Leadership Center of Toledo, a local organization that provides an opportunity for individuals and groups to discover their passion and calling to act in ways that provide leadership in the community, the workplace and the world, in order to create a more just world. The group advocates for an approach that relies more on example than on position, and on service more than power.

Migration of Unaccompanied El Salvadoran Children to the U.S.

Leslie Schuld Executive Director of the Cen-ter for Exchange and Solidarity (CIS) will give a short presentation on the migration of unac-companied Salvadoran children to the U.S. in the Meeting Room after the 11 a.m. Mass, today, Sunday, August 10th. Leslie has been living and working in El Salvador since the 1992 Peace Ac-cords. She works closely with Salvadoran youth and will provide a firsthand Salvadoran perspec-tive on what is driving this current crisis on the US border. The Christian Service Program sup-ports CIS’s scholarship program and youth lead-ership for Salvadoran high school and college students.
