While ASMACS’s core business in HR Consultancy and placement services are growing rapidly since inception in the year �984, it was presented with an opportunity to demonstrate its engineering skills in the fabrication and erection of structures and modification works on board vessels in Kuwait in the year �995.
The in-house engineering team at ASMACS welcomed the opportunity to grow and demonstrate its engineering skills with the use of its expertise in the execution of the works. Thus, ASMACS began its diversification into engineering activities in Kuwait, and gradually into other regions within Arabian Gulf countries, and India.
Simultaneously, ASMACS made a humble beginning in the maintenance of ships, ship repairs and steel fabrication, erection, and sand blasting works in �996 in Mumbai (Bombay). ASMACS Engineering services were instantly recognized by Ship Owners i.e. UASC-KWT, AWAL MARINE-BAHRAIN, BAKRI NAVIGATION-KSA and a host of others, through its hitherto HR and Consultancy Services.
ASMACS’ instant response to customers’ needs and the organizing capability to mobilize manpower and materials at short notice impressed many of its clients and created immense confidence in ASMACS in the execution of critical and time-bound works. From here, ASMACS took a bold step and established its branch at Cochin in �998 and since then it has been catering to the needs of the Indian Navy, Cochin Shipyard and a host of other industrial units in and around Cochin. ASMACS is one of the few registered and recognized Ship Repair and Engineering Contracting Companies with Indian Navy, Cochin Ship Yard, Garden Reach Ship Builders and a host of others in India.
With the continual orders from principals based abroad for ship maintenance, repeated requests for providing qualified technical skills such as Class tested Welders, Marine Mechanics, Electricians and other crew to carry out repair works during voyages, ASMACS ENGINEERING chose to establish its own ship repairing facilities in Dubai-UAE in 2002 and at Hamriyah Free Zone-Sharjah-UAE in 2003.
ASMACS ENGINEERING is now a full-fledged composite engineering service providers, it undertakes and executes repair/refit works on board Tankers, Chemical Tankers, LPG Carriers, Seismic Vessels, Bulk Carriers, AHTS, Offshore Work-cum-Supply Vessels, and Accommodation Barges, Floating Cranes, Container Vessels, and Cruise liners.

The Founder - Promoter of ASMACS, Mr Dev Mohanty, is an Electrical Engineer - Marine by profession, and the burning desire and passion in him to serve the shipping industry propels the growth of ASMACS business.
A qualified team of marine professionals with varied experience on board vessels and ashore, buttress the on-going developmental activities, and the ever-changing needs of shipping industry.
A well experienced and reputed Master Mariner is in charge of our ship crewing and management related operations. He is ably assisted and supported by a team of qualified administrative personnel who have over �5 years experience in Crew Management and Manning Operations.
We have a tie up with approved Medical Centers for most of the reputed shipping companies, Air India, and Life Insurance Corpn of India Ltd. We undertake basic health education, vaccination, immunization, shipboard medical precautions, pre-joining medicals, TMT (stress test), spirometery (pulmonary function tests), and clinical examination all under one roof. Our medical team extends the medical assistance to seafarer’s families while they are out at sea.

reCrUiTmenT, sCreening anD seLeCTiOn
ASMACS always takes extraordinary precaution to employ only the seafarers with pertinent experience to match the requirement of our Principals. This system is beneficial to our Principals, as the crew is familiar with the vessel’s routines and procedures. We take extreme care of seafarer’s certification and experience with cross reference from previous employers, government departments and certification authorities, before his name is enlisted with us and his resume is uploaded into our Databank.
Pre – emPLOYmenT meDiCaL eXaminaTiOns
All the seafarers undergo the medical examination at one of the Director General of Shipping approved medical centers, in accordance with M.S. rules of ILO/Panama/Liberian/Vanuatu/ Malaysian flag guidelines. ASMACS ensures due medical clearances before the seafarer joins the vessel.
Thorough examination includes chest X-ray, blood count/group, urine analysis, stool examination, dental check up, psychometric examination, vision test, and also special tests (if required) like HIV, Hepatitis (B & C), Gamma G.T, Drug and Alcohol, E.C.G, and Stress test. Special vaccinations are given for the vessels trading in the specific areas. ASMACS always adheres to the regulations and established practice.

ASMACS follows the procedures laid down by the shipping industry
• Minimum validity of the seafarer’s certificates and documents as per the contract term.
• Training and certification conforming to IMO, ILO and STCW’ 95 convention and ISM code.
• Seafarer must have appropriate training and certification for the position he is employed on board the vessel.
• Seafarers are briefed on the company’s policies and vessel specific procedures.

One of the group companies of ASMACS is an IATA agent viz. ASMACS TOUR & TRAVEL ASSOCIATE, who has the expertise and experience in economic routing of crew to and from the ships. Pre-paid Ticket Advice (PTA) may also be issued at principal’s option.

Principals may remit the amount as per the seafarer’s instruction for disbursal of allotments to designated beneficiaries through our appointed banks. Receipts are sent to the principals confirming the payments and distribution.
PerFOrmanCe mOniTOring
ASMACS regularly monitors performance of the crew through the reports from the Master of the vessel, and de- briefing sessions of fellow crew members from the same vessel. This enables us in assessing the seafarer’s report on competence and behavior before considering his re-employment. Reports are compiled and remarks are updated on the resume of crew.

During the year 2000-200�, ASMACS took participation in the local tender floated by KSINC (Kerala Shipping & Inland Navigation Corporation Ltd.) Kochi, for chartering of general cargo vessel of about 2200DWT for movement of general cargo. ASMACS was successfully awarded the contract of time charter of general cargo vessel for about 5 months+.
ASMACS took vessel from owners, Great Eastern Shipping – Mumbai, on time-charter for five months plus, and sub-chartered to KSINC. During this charter period, the vessel was managed, operated and run by ASMACS team at Mumbai and Kochi efficiently.
Further, we helped our principals in the movement of liquid cargo (Caustic soda lye) to East Coast from West Coast by chartering Chemical and Product tanker for a period of �2 months.
We undertake single shipment or a COA of a significant quantity that needs to be moved in multiple shipments over time periods that might be more than a year.

In record time of ten days, the identified Generator was tested, trial-run conducted and shipped to the client, followed by installation on board the vessel.
