A Higher Purpose
The Graziadio School of Business and Management was founded on the belief that there is
a higher purpose for business practice than simply shareholder wealth. The hallmarks of our
educational experience center on preparing our graduates to make a positive impact not only
in their lives, but also in the organizations and communities in which they work and serve.
These hallmarks include:
Values-Centered
Preparing our graduates to lead change means first giving them a greater understanding
of their own personal values. We provide opportunities for our business managers
and executives to develop their values-centered leadership style both in and outside
of the classroom.
Collaborative
Our small classes and highly accessible faculty help create a learning environment that
fosters cooperation and collaboration. As a result, our graduates learn how to lead others
as well as how to be effective team members.
Experience-Driven
Our curriculum is designed to relate directly to your profession, so you can apply what
you learn in class at your workplace the next day. Our faculty combines superior academic
credentials with extensive real-world business experience, and students are encouraged
to discuss real business challenges from their current job as well as participate in live
business cases with Fortune 500 companies.
Entrepreneurial
Founded by real estate and banking entrepreneur George L. Graziadio, our school has a
strong entrepreneurial legacy. We’ve developed courses to help students foster creative
thinking and idea generation, some of the essential components of entrepreneurship as
well as drivers of innovation for established organizations.
Global
A global perspective is interwoven in our curriculum so that our students have a solid
understanding of how to conduct business effectively in the international marketplace.
What’s more, we offer a variety of opportunities for our students to gain hands-on
international expertise through traveling abroad in Europe, Asia, South America and Africa.

Leading the Conversation
From sponsoring proprietary research studies to connecting organizations with MBA
consultants, the Graziadio School is helping to lead the conversation about best business
practices and innovations.
One key way we accomplish this is through our Center for Applied Research. The Center
provides thought leadership among business professionals and academics alike and, as a
result, bridges the gap between business theory and business practice.
Real-World Research
With a focus on values-centered leadership and social responsibility, the Center also
fosters and promotes relevant research that makes an impact on the business
community. It currently supports the Pepperdine Private Capital markets Project,
the first comprehensive investigation of the major private capital market segments.
The study seeks to shed light on how private capital providers and others view their
industry and determine the true cost of capital and the behavior of private lenders and
investors. It also provides insights into eight other private market segments including
venture capital, angel, and private equity investors.
To receive a copy of the study, visit bschool.pepperdine.edu/privatecapital.
Bridging Business and Academia
Being an active member of the Pepperdine community means having the opportunity
to attend a variety of networking and educational events throughout the year. From our
signature speaker series to smaller, interactive forums and panel discussions, these events
help connect students, alumni and corporate partners with issues and business leaders
changing the future of business.
The Dean’s Executive Leadership Series
Leading business executives, authors and thought leaders engage in an interactive,
informative discussion with students, faculty and alumni through our Dean’s Executive
Leadership Series. Former series speakers have included Disney/ABC Television group
president Anne Sweeney, Mattel chairman and CEO Robert Eckert, chairman of the
FTC Deborah Platt Majoras, and Bank of America CEO Brian Moynihan. The series has
now grown to include speakers at Pepperdine’s Northern California and Orange County
graduate campuses as well.
Alumni Panels and Forums
The Graziadio School has more than 32,000 graduates, making ours the largest MBA
alumni network on the West Coast. With alumni working in a wide range of industries and
professions, we offer a broad selection of panel and forum events to help our graduates
stay ahead of the curve on trends and issues influencing business. These events are also
a great opportunity for companies and organizations to connect with the Pepperdine MBA
network for staffing and other needs. Previous events include the 2010 Health Care Forum
and the National Knowledge Management Conference.
Lunch and Learn Events
Explore some of today’s most important business topics through a “Lunch and Learn”
event that can be hosted on site at your organization. These intensive lunch workshops
are led by members of the Graziadio School’s highly respected faculty and can
address specific challenges and opportunities facing your organization and industry.
Past “Lunch and Learn” discussions have centered on change management, leadership,
and globalization.

Education to Business (E2B)
Among the 10 College Courses That Pay Off by U.S. News and World Report
Since its inception in 2003, the Education to Business (E2B) program has partnered
Pepperdine MBA students with a broad mix of small, mid-sized and Fortune 500
companies to provide fresh insights on complex business issues.
Case projects are assigned to MBA courses and led by expert faculty. Classes invest 14
weeks to research, analyze and provide recommendations on a business project that has
been defined by the company’s executives and a Pepperdine faculty member. Projects
have encompassed such areas as new-product commercialization, market entry, product
life-cycle strategies, financial analysis and business valuation, and change management.
E2B has produced $7.5 million in business consulting for companies across the nation
over the last eight years. By the end of the 2011 academic year, student consultants will
have completed more than 200 projects with companies like Starbucks, Experion and
Walt Disney Co., as well as with smaller, local companies.
Case Study: Pepperdine at Work
“They presented some creative new ideas that we implemented, and that really made a difference...”
George Vicente, president of Mesa Safe and securitybase.com, was at an entrepreneurial
crossroads. Revenues at his California commercial-grade security product company
were up, but sales came exclusively from its e-commerce website. There was promising
opportunity to expand distribution through the retail channel, but that realization was also
dawning on the company’s biggest competitors.
Vicente needed to gain insight – fast – into how the retail channel could help his company
grow sales with small businesses.
He turned to the consultants in the Graziadio School’s Education to Business (E2B)
program. He and his executive team were aligned with a faculty member and a dedicated
team of MBA students focused on crafting strategies for the company to expand
distribution and grow market share.
“The first E2B assistance we received was more than five years ago when we were
in a 5,000-square-foot building. We changed our business model following the initial
recommendations from the E2B students and our success resulted in us moving to a
25,000-square-foot building. We received assistance from our second E2B student groups
and again found successes that required moving into our current 50,000-square-foot
building. We were thrilled with our third and latest round of assistance from the students
and this has resulted in us redirecting our resources for cost saving, which we are anxious
to implement.”
Students gain insightful skills and knowledge through experiential learning, while businesses receive
meaningful solutions to their business needs.

Business Degrees for Working Professionals
The Graziadio School was one of the first business schools in the nation to develop
business degrees specifically for working professionals. Today, we continue that proud
tradition by offering a broad range of business degrees for every stage of the business
leader’s career development.
Presidential and key Executive mBA
This MBA program, the only one of its kind in the nation, has been created exclusively for
business leaders seeking to take their organization to the next level. Structured around
a small cohort of experienced executives, colleagues have the opportunity to exchange
strategic insights and experiences with top-tier faculty and peers across diverse industries.
Executive mBA
With a focus on experience-driven learning and collaboration, this MBA program is
designed for senior managers who are ready to assume greater responsibilities and
emerge as even stronger leaders within their organization. Each cohort is assigned a class
adviser who acts as a mentor and coach throughout the program.
Fully Employed mBA
This MBA program is designed for working adults who want to maintain their career
momentum while advancing their education. Coursework is designed to reflect real-
world challenges, including an understanding of the impact of globalization, competition,
technological innovation and ethics on the workplace.
master of Science in organization Development
The premier graduate program in its field, M.S. in Organization Development prepares
leaders in the art and science of managing strategic change. It is also the only
graduate OD program in the world that spends more than 30 percent of class time in
international locations.
master of Science in management and Leadership
The M.S. in Management and Leadership degree focuses on how managers can lead others,
motivate teams and build alliances all within a values-centered learning environment.
master of Science in Entrepreneurship
This master’s program explores entrepreneurship from the perspective of creative
problem solving. Students gain hands-on experience in how to model, plan and launch
a business venture or foster greater innovation in an existing organization.
Bachelor of Science in management
Our bachelor’s completion program allows working professionals to return to school
and earn a business degree from a highly respected university. Students participate
in a rigorous yet practical learning experience that integrates business theory with
real-world strategies.
Joint BSm and mBA Program (mBAJ)
The MBAJ program is a joint bachelor’s and MBA program designed specifically for
students and graduates of Pepperdine’s Bachelor of Science in Management (BSM)
program. The program allows students to leverage their work in the bachelor’s program
toward an MBA degree at an accelerated pace.
“The PKE program offers a
unique experience in which
the learning community is
comprised exclusively of
other senior executives and
faculty that is actively engaged
in the business community
as well as academia. From
my perspective, the entire
program is structured to
provide a global perspective

organization. Compared to

Strengthen Your Workforce
“The program offering from Pepperdine was the deciding factor in my decision to
undertake an MBA course of study. They provided an accredited school with a strong
reputation as well as local convenience and convenient program hours. It effectively
eliminated all the issues that normally accompany a traditional fully employed
MBA offering. The resulting experience provided the knowledge, ethics, and skills
that are the foundation upon which I am building my leadership career.”
