About BridgestoneAt Bridgestone, our goal is to become a truly global company and to achieve “Dan-Totsu”, the absolute and clear leader in Japanese, in our industries. The roots of our company date back to 1931, when Bridgestone Tire Co., Ltd. was established in Kurume, Japan. Anticipating the future potential of tyres for passenger cars and the international development of the business, founder Shojiro Ishibashi used an English translation of his surname for the name of the company.
As Japan's automobile industry grew, the Bridgestone Group expanded its business to become Japan's largest tyre manufacturer. The company actively expanded overseas, particularly in Asia. In 1988, the company acquired The Firestone Tire & Rubber Company. This transformed Bridgestone into one of the world's largest tyre and rubber companies.
Apart from our core tyre business, Bridgestone’s Diversied Product segment manufactures a broad range of products, which include industrial rubber and chemical products, and sporting goods.
Headquartered in Tokyo, Bridgestone supplies its products to over 150 nations and territories around the world.

Corporate Citizenship in Asia Pacific
Biodiversity Protection in Nianbaoyuze (China)In China, Bridgestone has been working with a local environmental NGO to protect biodiversity in the natural environment. Ongoing since 2011, the “Qinghai Nianbaoyuze Ecological Conservation Project” aims to develop sustainable actions among the local community to protect the natural environment around Nianbaoyuze.
Environmental Conservation and Education (Thailand)In collaboration with WWF Thailand and the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Bridgestone funded the establishment of the Nature and Agriculture Education Centre, which serves as an outdoor classroom for students to learn more about the environment and nature conservation of the central plains’ ecosystem. In addition, Bridgestone organises mangrove-planting and agricultural activities with the involvement of employees, students and the local community.
Support for Leukaemia Foundation (Australia)Since 1986, Bridgestone has been supporting the Leukaemia Foundation in Australia through various initiatives such as providing Patient Transport Vehicles, funding blood cancer research, assisting with patient accommodation and participating in fund-raising activities for the Leukaemia Foundation such as “Light the Night” and “World’s Greatest Shave”. Bridgestone is proud to have its commitment honoured by having the Leukaemia Foundation’s new accommodation facility in Adelaide named “Bridgestone Australia Leukaemia Foundation Village”.
Health Check-up Camps for Rural Villages (India)To combat high mortality rates and the spread of communicable diseases and other general illnesses among the local population living in rural India, Bridgestone began initiatives to raise health and hygiene awareness in the local communities around its facilities since 2009. Efforts include door-to-door explanations and distribution of information pamphlets, organising health check-up camps, as well as eye check-ups and vaccination camps with the help of medical specialists.
Technical Training School for Students (Indonesia)Bridgestone established the Loka Latihan Kerja Bridgestone (LLKBS) in 1981 with the aim of nurturing skillful and reliable young technicians to support the Indonesian industry. The engineering training school provides free two-year training courses in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, including English and Japanese language subjects, as well as management knowledge, for high-school graduates who need the necessary skills to work in the industry. Each year, 24 students graduate from the school, and many of them have been employed by Bridgestone.
Road and Tyre Safety Activities (Vietnam)Bridgestone aims to improve the awareness of road and vehicle safety with the goal of reducing traffic accidents. In Vietnam, safety-related activities done annually include tyre check services, tyre safety seminars and “Car Care Day” events. At the tyre check service, truck, bus and passenger car drivers have their tyres inspected and serviced, while consultants share tips on tyre care and maintenance. The “Tyres and Essential Knowledge on Tyres” seminars bring together a panel of experts to educate drivers on proper vehicle handling techniques. At "Car Care Day", free car maintenance is provided to keep vehicles well maintained to prevent avoidable accidents.
