HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO OUR AMERICAN MEMBERS!

- Our member Alan Southergill headed up our meeting today. Alan is a long-time member of “Toastmasters” and a terrific public speaker.

- The Beach Business Networking meetings are open to everyone whether you have a business here in Panama or not. Many of our people are retired and just interested in meeting people, looking for help and support for a charity or a cause or just wanting to find out what is happening in the beach communities.

- Cynthia Lehman, the group’s founder, based the group on the “Givers Gain” concept and in fact, BBN celebrated their 2nd year anniversary as of January 6th, 2017, Cynthia Lehman brought the book by the name of “The Go Giver” book to the very first meeting.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK: Provided by today’s Keynote Speaker Fanny Del Cid- “Be Happy for no reason, like a child. If you are happy for a reason, you’re in trouble, because that reason can be taken from you”. – Deepak Chopra

Keynote Speaker – Presented by Our Member FANNY DEL CID- Exclusive Representative ZRII Products: Inspired by Ayurveda ZRII products are inspired by Ayurveda, a wellness system that originated in India over 5,000 years ago, one of the oldest wellness systems in the world. The Sanskrit word Ayurveda can literally be translated as “The Science of Life”. In the Ayervedic tradition, optimal well-being is achieved by bringing all aspects of the person into balance, so that he/she can reach their fullest potential. The goal is accomplished by harmonizing the physical body, the mental body, as well as the person’s environment, relationships, lifestyle choices and more! Fanny and her associates offer a full array of ZRii wellness and personal care products that harness the wisdom of Ayurveda and enhances that wisdom using modern scientific techniques. ZRii, an American company, brings together thought leaders in traditional Ayurvedic technique as well as top medical and scientific experts creating transformational products that are designed to bring you closer to a state of balance and harmony where you look and feel your best. Educational Speaker – Presented by Our Members Steven Hensel and Patrick Jennings-Co-Founders of Libra de Basura Steven and Patrick have been coming to Panama for several years. Like anyone considering their retirement destination they discussed everything they really loved and those things they really didn’t like about Panama. As with many of us, the garbage situation was a complete turn off. So, when Allison Date started to walk along the beach and picked up as much garbage as she could handle Steven and Patrick thought it would be a great idea for all the ExPats in the Coronado/Gorgona area to participate in the endeavor. As Steven says, “it just snowballed from there” and today more and more volunteers have joined the groups in both Coronado and Gorgona as part of their morning walk on the beach. NOW their goal is to join Roberto Diaz in his educational children’s books called MY PANAMA which they are hoping to have distributed throughout the Panamanian school system. This beautifully illustrated book is centered around Panamanian pride starting with the way to handle trash. It shows the children what the consequences are from the mountains to the oceans and the affect to wildlife and to the beauty of their country in general. The book hasn’t been published yet, it is a work in progress. In fact, Steven and Patrick went to the President’s home of the Ministry of Education (Meduca) and left a preliminary copy of the book with the guards at his private gated entry in the hopes that he will back the publishing and distribution to all the public schools in Panama. They haven’t heard back yet but we are all crossing our fingers! Thank you, Steven and Patrick! The whole point of this is that education is key to making the Panamanian children more aware of the consequences of

Page 5

littering. If you’d like to help out with this project, if you’re interested in helping with the Libra De Basura beach trash walks or if you have any questions please contact Steven at his cell#6494-5181 or Email: [email protected].

The Go-Kart Race Track was originally built in Coronado 30 years ago when the area was less developed and the homes were only mostly for vacations and holidays unlike today with many full-time residents. The Mayor of Chame has recently issued a permit for the “Asociacion de Moto Velocidad” until 1pm. These motorcycle speed races with their street pipes often go until 2am disturbing the residents of Coronado as well as Punto Barco with the deafening sounds. There is another Motor Track in La Chorrera which is nowhere as close to residential areas as the Coronado Go-Kart Track which should be used instead of the one in Coronado.
