KY88 The “Town Key” is imprinted “Medinah Temple presents Thomas F. Seay, P. P. as candidate for Imperial Outer Guard”. According to Chicago’s Southtown Economist, Seay was a candidate for the position in 1957 thus pinning down the age of this key to that year. Later, in 1967, Seay became the Imperial Potentate of the Ancient Order of Nobles of the Mystic Shrine. In the accompanying brochure we read “There’s nothing quite like your new Town Key for it has a really subtle combination of beauty and efficiency. To the casual observer it appears as a handsome gold tone decorative key to use as a paperweight at the office or as an ornament in the home. But examine it more closely – and lo, you discover a bottle opener on one end and a handy ice crusher on the other end. And just a twist of the wrist uncovers one of the most efficient corkscrews ever made.” $149
