COURTHOUSE GALLERY: Poetry and Painting to be Pairedat Lake George Arts Project Gallery Opening June 14 - 5 PM Reading by Paul Pines
4-6 PM Opening Reception for Andrew Thompson ExhibitionAndrew Thompson, whose solo exhibition of fish and wildlife paintings will be exhibited at the LakeGeorge Arts Projectʼs Courthouse Gallery this month, will be joined at the June 14 opening by poetPaul Pines.
Pines, who is also a novelist and a psychotherapist and who has curated the Lake George JazzFestival since its inception, will read from his new book of poems “Fishing on the Pole Star.”The reading will be the official launch of the new book, which was published in April.“The idea of observing and capturing the intelligence and connectivity of creatures who swim in
that other element opens the door to a hugely provocative metaphor,” said Pines. “Combining twodifferent vantage points, the June 14 opening will demonstrate what the ancient Greeks calledekphrasis – one art form commenting upon and complementing another.”“Fishing on the Pole Star” is Pinesʼs eleventh book. His previous book of poems, “New Orleans Variations & Paris Ourboros,” was named the best
volume of poetry published in 2013 by the Adirondack Center for Writing.Thompsonʼs paintings have been exhibited at the Gallery at Hague Creek in Hague, New York andat the Waterfront Museum in Brooklyn. Also a bookbinder, Thompson was among the artists se-lected to participate in the exhibition, “Defined Bindings: 26 Bindings of the Pictorial Websterʼs Dic-tionary,” which was shown in Boston and San Francisco. The poetry reading will take place during the reception at 5 pm. The Courthouse Gallery is locatedin the old Courthouse on lower Amherst Street in Lake George.

THE GOLF TOURNAMENT illustrated above provides funds that assist residents in the greaterCorinth/Lake Luzerne/Hadley area when they experience financial difficulties at any time throughoutthe year, or as long as funds last. Since last Juneʼs tournament, 20 individuals and/or families havereceived help with expenses of all types, totaling nearly $5,000. The Community Crisis Fund col-laborates with Corinthʼs Council of Churches and the “Share the Warmth” program; with CatholicCharities; and other community-based organizations. This collaboration helps extend each oneʼslimited financial resources.Prior to each yearʼs tournament, donations are solicited from area merchants and businesses of alltypes. We also solicit contributions from golf courses located in the Southern Adirondack region.Without their generosity in the giving of money, merchandise, greens fees, etc., conducting thetournament and operating the Community Crisis Fund would not be possible. Please support ourlocal businesses and courses; they give back more than we realize.
