• To standardize definitions and calculation methods for chronic disease and risk factor indicators to build capacity for chronic disease surveillance.

1. To provide accurate information that can be used by public health epi’s and others to generate indicators

2. To ensure this info is readily accessible3. To advocate that public health units (PHU’s) have

access to good quality data 4. To encourage PHU’s and others to use the

same indicator definitions and methods5. To increase awareness of indicators6. To report accomplishments of project

• Review & evaluate best practices on indicator definitions, calculation methods and data sources• Complete indicator & resource documents • Post documents on website• Liaise with organizations to improve data quality and access to data• Encourage adoption of indicator definitions and methods• Promote indicators through publications and presentations• Complete summary report

• Public health units (PHU’s) and others will use consistent, standardized definitions when conducting chronic disease and risk factor surveillance.• Information and resources that assist in generating these indicators will be readily available on website.• Increased awareness of website.• Core Indicators will be incorporated into provincial surveillance protocols and other documents.

• Budget: $111,000
