A lighthouse in the city

The project is divided into two axes: one horizontal and one vertical. The horizontal line is connected to the existing building, and it is a continuation of the sidewalk. In this part of the project we can find a nursery and a office building. Thus, by extending the sidewalk using a ramp, you can access a walk on the roof. The vertical line is used to attract attention like a lighthouse. This brings light to the district which is currently dark at night and acts as a calling point. This tower comprises 24 housing units, all different. The intersection of the two lines create an hybridization between the different fonctions of the project.

Le projet se décompose en deux lignes: une horizontale et une verticale. La ligne horizontale se rattache au bâtiment existant, et est dans la continuité du trottoir du boulevard. On y trouve une créche, ainsi que des bureaux. Par le prologement du trottoir en rampe, on peut accéder à une promenade sur le toit des bureaux. La ligne verticale permet, quant à elle, d’attirer les regards, à l’image d’un phare. Cette tour apporte de la lumière au quartier qui est actuellement sombre la nuit. Elle est composée de 24 logements, tous différents. A l’intersection de ces deux lignes, se créé un espace d’interraction et d’hybridation entre les différentes fonctions du projet.

90 student housing units are located on the island of Nantes. This structure allows for a variety of programs: a cafeteria, a gym room and a music room on the ground floor and various types of accommodation on the upper floors. Some units are linked with large common areas, others only share a kitchen. Some are more closed on themselves to ensure more privacy. The project is divided into three layers: the base, a public space including all activities, the outdoor space for the students and the student housing.

90 logements étudiants sont créés sur l’île de Nantes. Cette structure offre une diversité de programme: cafétéria, salle de fitness et salle de musique au rez-de-chaussé et différentes typologies de logements aux étages supérieurs. Certains logements sont connectés autour d’un vaste espace commun, d’autres ne sont reliés que par deux et partagent une cuisine commune. Enfin, certains fonctionnent indépendemment les uns des autres et proposent une plus grande intimité. Le projet fonctionne en trois strates: le socle, espace public accueillant l’ensemble des activités proposées, un espace extérieur pour les étudiants et les logements étudiants.

Located near a large shopping center, the Colombo center, and stadium «de la Luz», the project site «Quinta da Granja» is surrounded by superstructures. All these superstructures have no connection between them; this area could be described as «Junkspace». The project idea is to take advantage of the Colombo center to give a real identity to the abandoned site, to integrate a new dimension in this junkspace, the heritage and the agriculture, but also to strengthen the links between the superstructures and hybridize the local and the global. To preserve the area while strengthening its agricultural nature, we choose to use a frame minimizing impacts on the site and symbolizing the agriculture : the greenhouse.

Situé à proximité d’un grand centre commercial, le centre Colombo, et du grand stade «de la Luz», le site du projet «Quinta da Granja» est entouré de superstructures. Toutes ces superstructures n’ont aucun lien entre elles; cette zone pourrait alors être qualifiée de «junkspace». L’idée du projet est de tirer parti du centre Colombo pour redonner une véritable identité à ce site délaissé, intégrer une nouvelle dimension dans ce junkspace, celle du patrimoine et de l’agriculture, mais aussi renforcer les liens entre les superstructures et ainsi hybrider le local et le global. Afin de préserver le domaine tout en renforçant son caractère agricole, nous avons choisis d’utiliser un moyen bâti minimisant les impacts du site, et symbolisant l’agriculture: la serre.

This project tells a nesting of its programs (gym, sports hall, library and archives) and within the site. Indeed, the library-archives wrap around the two sports hall and offers views of the agitation in the sports halls . In addition to a visual link , the library, by its upward movement, allows to serve the different levels of the sports halls. Every sports hall is related to the topography of the site, in fact, they ensure the transition between the street level and the level of the forest below. The roof of the library connects the street level to the roof of the sports hall. It thus offers an architectural promenade that ends on a mineral site .

Ce projet raconte une imbrication de ses programmes entre eux (gymnase, salle omnisport, bibliothèque et archives) et au sein du site. En effet, les archives-bibliothèque s’enroulent autour des deux salles de sport et offre ainsi des vues saccadées sur l’agitation des salles de sports. En plus d’un lien visuel, la bibliothèque, de par son mouvement ascendant, permet de desservir les différents niveaux des salles de sport. Chacune des salles est liée à la topographie du site, en effet, elles assurent la transition entre le niveau de la rue et le niveau de la forêt en contre bas. Le toit de la bibliothèque, quant à lui, relie le niveau de la rue au toit de la salle omnisport. Il offre ainsi une promenade architectural qui aboutit sur une place minérale.

The main concept of the three villas is the privacy. In order to provide it we moulded the terrain to shape a private valley. The views are controlled by the planted trees on the protective wall between the lake and the pond. The exterior and interior are overlapped and merged, blurring the distinct edge between them. Nature also plays a role as a connector since the vegetation and position of rocks create a sense of unity between the houses and their exterior spaces. There are three villas – Water, Hill and Tree villa. Each of the houses includes a water element in its design. Everything in the valley appears to be connected but the entrances to the houses are protected and independent.

Le concept principal des trois villas est l’intimité. Le terrain a été sclupté et modelé de manière à former une vallée privée. Les points de vue sont contrôlés par les arbres plantés formant un mur de protection entre le lac et l’étang. L’extérieur et l’intérieur fusionnent, la tansition entre le dedans et le dehors se fait progressivement et sans rupture. La nature joue également un rôle en tant que connecteur car la végétation et la position des rochers créent un sentiment d’unité entre les maisons et leurs espaces extérieurs. Il ya trois villas - Villa Eau, Villa Montagne et Villa Arbre. Chacune des maisons comprend un élément de l’eau dans sa conception. Tout dans la vallée semble être lié, bien que les entrées des maisons sont protégées et indépendantes.

The project consist of the improvment of Saint-Nazaire transport pole with an enhancement of the public space, the imput of other programs and the extension of the actuel train station. The train station site becomes the support of the city mutation by changing the image of the city entrance and the definition of a transportation area. This area is lined with a research center, including a relay parking lot. Its vocabulary contrasts with the existing context. The train station regarding its patrimonial character is just suffering a little extension. It establishes with the bus station and the relay parking a transportation triptych: a multimodal area.

Le projet consiste en une remise en valeur du pôle multimodal de la gare de Saint-Nazaire par une revalorisation de l’espace public, l’apport de nouveaux programmes et l’extension de la gare actuelle. La gare devient le support de la mutation de la ville par l’amélioration de l’image de l’entrée de ville et la définition d’une aire multimodale. Cette aire est doublée d’un centre de recherche intégrant un parking relais. Son vocabulaire architectural tranche avec le contexte. La gare ferroviaire, de par son caractère patrimonial, ne subit qu’une légère extension. Elle vient constituer avec la gare de bus et le parking relais le tryptique de transport: l’aire multimodale.

The goal of the project is to create a new concept of smart city in Jaipur, India. We base our thinking on several criteria: following a geometric path and trying to get profit out of the lack of ressources. The main lack of ressources in Jaipur is water. That is why the project is shaped as a mountain. Water monsoon is collected inside the mountain from june to september and it is redistributed throughout the year. Thanks to this water reservoir, the city can produce all necessary food. Argiculture has a very important role in this city. In fact, in addition to feeding the population, the vertical farming protects residents against heat and light radiation. Jalis city is a self-sufficient city.

L’objectif du projet est de créer un nouveau concept de ville intelligente à Jaipur, en Inde. Nous avons basé notre réflexion sur plusieurs critères: s’inspirer des motifs géométriques et obtenir profit de l’absence de ressources. Le principal manque de ressource à Jaipur est l’eau. C’est pourquoi le projet a la forme d’un mont. L’eau des moussons est collectée à l’intérieur du mont de juin à septembre et est, ensuite, redistribuée tout au long de l’année. Grâce à ce réservoir d’eau, la ville peut produire toute la nourriture nécessaire. L’agriculture joue un rôle particulièrement important dans cette ville. En effet, en plus de nourrir la population, elle permet de protéger les habitants de la chaleur et des rayonnements lumineux. Jalis city est une ville auto-suffisante.

30 Workshop

By this project, the aim was to create a digital tessellation with Grasshopper. Two parameters, U and T, adjustable by Grasshopper, are used to vary the pattern of the tessellation. Thus, by choosing five values for U and T, the application created draws 25 different patterns. Then, we built a model representing the 25 possible patterns.

Par ce projet, l’ objectif était de créer une mosaïque numérique avec Grasshopper. Deux paramètres, U et T, réglables par Grasshopper, sont utilisés pour faire varier le motif de la tessellation. Ainsi, en choisissant cinq valeurs pour U et T, l’ application créée dessine 25 motifs différents. Ensuite, nous avons construit une maquette représentant les 25 motifs possibles.

The idea of the workshop is inspired by Armelle Caron’s maps. The workshop took place in three stages with the help of Armelle Caron. The first step was to draw the map of Lisbon on a carpet of 20mx40m. Then we cut out all buildings. Finally, we reconstructed an imaginary city with all Lisbon buildings, we called our new city Absoli, the anagram of Lisboa.

L’idée du projet est inspirée des cartes d’Armelle Caron. Le workshop s’est déroulé en trois étapes, avec l’aide d’Armelle Caron. Dans un premier temps, nous avons dessiné la carte de Lisbonne sur un tapis d’environ 20mx40m. Ensuite, nous avons découpé tous les bâtiments tracés auparavent. Enfin, nous avons reconstruit une ville imaginaire à partir des bâtiments de Lisbonne, nous avons appelé notre nouvelle ville Absoli, un anagramme de Lisboa.

The original project was created for the Architecture Venice Biennale 2014 (Morocco Pavilion) by Fernando Menis. I made copies for various exhibitions. The topic was «Molding nature to make life possible». The project represents the symbiosis between the natural energy and the manipulation of the form. Hatching is a machine that produces life through: catching the trade winds at great altitudes, water condensation from the clouds, protection from the warm winds and the sun and creating interior freshness. Throughout these elements, a microclimate that makes life possible is generated.

Le projet initial a été créé pour la Biennale d’architecture 2014 à Ve-nise (Pavillon du Maroc) par Fernando Menis. Je fait des copies pour diverses expositions. Le thème était «Modeler la nature pour rendre la vie possible». Le projet représente la symbiose entre l’énergie naturelle et la manipulation de la forme. L’éclosion est une machine qui produit la vie à travers : les alizés à grande altitude, l’eau de condensation des nuages , la protection contre les vents chauds et le soleil et la création de la fraîcheur intérieure. Par le biais de ces éléments , un microclimat qui rend la vie possible est généré.
