Have you encountered the term copywriting? Yes.

Copywriting not copy writing. They are different in

meaning. The one without space may be sound bizarre for

you if this is the first time you’ve ever encountered it.

Have you noticed the advertisements on huge billboards

everywhere?

Basically, copywriting is the process of writing marketing

stuff, obviously used for marketing purposes.

Copywriting is all about making your marketing materials

be advertised on different means. Such examples are the

advertisement on your website, e-mail, radio, television,

brochures, catalogs, direct letter and a lot more.

Wondering now why is it called copy?

In an advertisement you’ll see

graphics and words for it, so “copy” is

just used simply to differentiate the

actual texts from the visuals.

The main purpose of copywriting is to entice the reader or

the listener and anyone who sees the marketing stuff, to

become interested and prompted them to buy the products

or avail a service.

With copywriting, it triggers the prospective customer to

make an action. When I say action, it could be anything. Just

like the usual inquiries, asking for more details, and doing

subscriptions. And the next possible step for a prospective

customer is to buy it online or visit the actual store and make

purchases.

And lastly, the purpose of copywriting is to simply have good

and effective communication with your audience.

As a writer, we sometimes suffer from the so-called writer’s

block. In order to overcome that challenge, good planning

is necessary. You can ask suggestions and comments from

your colleagues. Gather your thoughts and ideas. You don’t

have to push yourself too hard. Just be natural and confident

that you can able to extract that right word from your mind.

Know your audience. It is important to identify the group of

people you want to write for. Have a clear and

understandable copy for them. You don’t have to tell a once-

upon-a-time-type of story. Just a good one would be enough.

Try to put yourself in their shoes and try to think like you are

just like them. Make sure you provide all the important

details and eliminate all the obscurity and be specific.

Don’t forget to state the benefits of your products or services.

The customer would always want to gain something

beneficial to them. They always want to have answers and

solutions to their concerns. And if they find that to your copy,

they may lock their eyes on it and grab the phone

immediately to ask for more information.

To make everything effective, practice is needed. What I

mean about practice is, just don’t hesitate to write a lot of

copy. Copywriting is fun, anyway. Just love what you’re

doing. Surely, you may be afraid to commit mistakes, that’s

why do practice. Write and Write. Think about it thoroughly

before making nay finalizations. And if everything’s clear

and safe... voila!
