The law in practice

While international law establishes fundamental principles on copyright and related rights shared by most countries, there is significant variation among the laws of different regional and national jurisdictions. WIPO surveys how the law is applied by courts, contracting parties and rights holders in different countries, to help share experiences and inform policymaking.

24

Principles of Copyright Law – Cases and Materials

This casebook is aimed at readers in countries where court decisions in the copyright domain are scarce or non-existent – either because copyright law is relatively new or because legislation has not been extensively applied. It includes examples from common law, civil law and the legal systems of Arab countries, showing how the fundamental principles of copyright law have been applied in many different jurisdictions.
