Does the thought of getting healthy or losing weight overwhelm you? Does it seem too hard? If you find yourself nodding in agreement, I’m so glad you are here! Because the truth is, it doesn’t have to be difficult! !!Just a few simple daily habits can make a really big difference in your health…and in your waistline. I’m living proof of that!!!One of the easiest and most important healthy habits I’ve incorporated into my life is drinking natural detoxifying smoothies every day. It’s such a simple, but powerful way to gently cleanse toxins from the body, keep healthy and full of energy.!!What are toxins you ask? Toxins are harmful chemicals that are making us sick and fat!!!You see, we live in a world crowded with toxic chemicals that didn’t exist less than a century ago.!

Over 4 billion pounds of toxic chemicals are released into the nation’s environment each each, including 72 million pounds of recognized carcinogens.!!So much of the food we eat, the medicines we take and the products we put on our skin contain synthetic chemicals that the body has a very difficult time processing.!!While our body has amazing built-in detoxification systems, it was never meant to handle the toxic chemicals of today. These toxins don’t leave our bodies quickly or fully. They accumulate and wreak havoc on our health.!!Excess toxins in the body have been implicated in many chronic diseases including cancer, autoimmune diseases, obesity, allergies, skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis, mental illness, chronic fatigue, neurological disorders, asthma, kidney disease and many more. And many of these toxins are classified as obesogens because they get stored in fat, where they cause fat cells to multiply. Plus there’s evidence that these obesogens increase appetite and slow metabolism! Yikes!!!Are you starting to see why it’s a good idea to help the body get rid of these toxins?!!There are many gimmicky short term detox programs out there. But the truth is, you can’t effectively eliminate decades of accumulated toxins in such a short timeframe. Leafy greens are at the top of the list of crops most heavily sprayed with pesticides and herbicides so I always recommend choosing organic when you shop for your greens. For convenience, I buy frozen bags of organic spinach. Costco carries a large box of fresh organic spinach for a great price, too!  If you are new to detox smoothies, I suggest starting out with spinach because it’s very mild and you won’t ever taste it. " " """""""Fruits are packed full of vitamins, nutrients and antioxidants that are so important for the immune system and for optimal detoxification (& great for skin health, too!). In a detox smoothie, you want to aim for a 1:1 ratio of fruits to greens. If you’re including really bitter greens in your smoothie, you may find that you need more fruit to mask the bitter taste. Serve immediately.!!!Kitchen Tip:!Sometimes I like to add a few mint leaves to my strawberry cake smoothie for a fun, minty twist!!!

Serve immediately.!!!Kitchen Tip:!For a minty cool iced matcha treat, add in 1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract. It’s delicious!!!

Serve immediately.!!!Kitchen Tip:!Instead of the ice, try adding in half of a frozen banana!!!

Oranges are a powerhouse when it comes to good nutrition! Loaded with vitamin C, A, minerals and antioxidants, oranges are well known to boost the immune system, detoxify the body and lessen inflammation. Serve immediately.!!!Kitchen Tip:!Frozen raspberries make this smoothie a frosty treat. If you opt for fresh raspberries, add in a handful of ice cubes.!!

This smoothie tastes like a decadent treat! So it may come as a surprise to learn that it’s loaded with good nutrition! Cacao powder is one of nature’s best sources of antioxidants and polyphenols. Serve immediately.!!!Kitchen Tip:!There’s no need to peel the peach! Also, you’ll want to opt for organic peaches whenever possible. Peaches are typically heavily sprayed with toxic pesticides and herbicides.!!

Peaches are a great way to cleanse out toxins from your colon, kidneys, stomach and liver. The high fiber content pushes out excess toxic waste matter from your colon, and helps protect against colon cancer. Peaches also contain phenolic compounds that have anti-obesity, anti-inflammatory and anti-diabetic properties!!!

Serve immediately.!!!Kitchen Tip:!I love using peanut butter for my nut butter, but if you have peanut allergies, try almond or cashew butter. For nut allergies, use sesame seed butter.!!

They are loaded with vitamins A and K, which help strengthen the immune system and help the body fight disease.!!

Beets are loaded with good nutrition and are well known to help detoxify the liver and cleanse the body of toxins. But it’s no secret that I’m not a fan of beets on their own. That’s why this smoothie is called “Beet Surprise.” You’ll be pleasantly surprised at how delicious it is! Serve immediately.!!!Kitchen Tip:!If you can’t find pumpkin pie spice, you can make your own very easily! Just combine 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg, 1/8 teaspoon ground ginger and 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves.!!

Pumpkin is loaded with fiber that helps cleanse the digestive system. It’s also an excellent source of vitamin A and E, which boost the immune system and protect against disease. If you like the taste of pumpkin pie, you’ll especially enjoy this detoxifying pumpkin spice smoothie!
