CHANGE THE COLOR PROFILE AND RESOLUTION

To open the Workflow Options dialog box, click the underlined link below the preview window

From the Space menu, choose the Adobe RGB (1998) color profile In the Resolution field, enter:

240 ppi for output to a desktop inkjet printer 300 ppi for output to a commercial printer

WHITE BALANCE

Correct the white balance of a photo first, because this setting affects the overall color

To adjust the white balance, in the Basic tab, choose a preset from the White Balance menu or move the Temperature and Tint sliders

HISTOGRAM

The histogram displays the distribution of pixels in the various tonal levels of the photo

To monitor shadow or highlight clipping using a visual aid, click the Clipping Warning button in the upper left and right corners of the histogram Shadow clipping displays as blue Highlight clipping displays as red

CLARITY AND VIBRANCE SLIDERS (BASIC TAB)

Use the Clarity slider to adjust the edge contrast and add depth to the midtones of a photo

Use the Vibrance slider to adjust color saturation of the least saturated colors in a photo without causing oversaturation

FILMSTRIP PANEL

When multiple photos are opened into Camera Raw, they are represented by thumbnails in the filmstrip panel on the left side

Click the thumbnail for the photo you want to correct

PRESET TAB

To save the current correction settings as a preset, click the Presets tab

Click the New Preset button Enter a name, select which categories of settings

you want saved in the preset, then click OK To apply a preset of saved settings to a photo,

click a preset in the Preset tab

SNAPSHOTS TAB

To save the current editing stage of a photo as a snapshot: Click the Snapshots tab, then click

the New Snapshots button Enter a name in the dialog box, then

click OK

Click any snapshot listing in the Snapshots tab to restore the photo to that editing stage

CAMERA RAW SETTINGS MENU

Right-click an image within Bridge, and choose Open in Camera Raw

To restore a photo to the settings that were in place when the photo was opened, choose Image Settings from the Camera Raw Settings menu

To remove all custom settings and restore a photo to the default settings of the camera model with which the photo was taken, choose Camera Raw Defaults from the Camera Raw Settings menu

ADJUST COLOR SATURATION AND LUMINANCE IN THE MIDTONES

The nested Saturation and Luminance tabs, in the HSL/Grayscale tab, can be used to change color saturation and lightness in specific color areas of a photo

Drag with the Crop tool to create a crop box Drag a corner or side handle to resize the box Drag inside the box to reposition it Press Esc to remove the crop In Camera Raw, the cropped pixels are always preserved

APPLY A POST-CROP VIGNETTE

In the Effects tab, use the Post Crop Vignetting sliders to apply a vignette The Amount slider controls the intensity and luminance (darkness or lightness) The Midpoint slider controls how far the vignette extends into the photo The Feather slider controls the softness of the inner edge of the vignette The Highlights slider controls whether highlights in the vignette area are preserved or

modified

APPLY SHARPENING

In the Detail tab, use the Sharpening sliders to apply sharpening to the photo The Amount slider controls the intensity of edge sharpening The Radius slider controls how many pixels around edges are modified The Detail slider controls the degree to which edges in the photo are emphasized The Masking slider controls whether the sharpening is applied to all edges or to just

medium- or high-contrast edges
