1. The Goldfish; newbie players that are still under the default starting protection (1 to ~15.000 respect)2. Pond fish; players that just came out of starting protection and grow phat of resources (~15.000 to 25.000 respect)

I started writing this Guide when I had about 50k respect. I was number 150 of my Cuneo Family at the beginning of februari.

Thanks to my own strategy I am number 9 of my Cuneo Family now. I'm way above many players who used hundreds of Diamonds.

General tips:First focus on getting enough resources. (Check this by clicking on the resources at the top)

Make sure you always hide your units. (Go to your mansion, protection tab and click "Hidden")As soon as you have an army attack gangs for Armory items. (Last tab of this file will tell you what you need)Make sure you equip armory items (go to Armory, armory tab, select level and item and click "equip")Make sure you have the entire level 5 Silver and Gold armory sets before you are out of protection.Use the Gold set when you are going to fight and the Silver set when you need resources or when you are going offline.Attack the best possible Cityscapes for extra resource bonus. (Last tab of this file will tell you what you need)

Never defend a Cityscape! As soon as you conquered one, recall your units (click "deployed" button on the top)If you lose a Cityscape by a player, just get a new neutral one. Don't attack players if you're still Under protection!Try to spread your Cityscapes as much as possible. Otherwise they will be too easy to find for the enemy.If you become a Pond fish (no longer under protection), start scouting Cityscapes from other players with fast units.If you are getting low on resources, focus on resource buildings, use resource items and attack gangs.Use cards with resource boosts if needed. You won't need them later on in the game anyway.

The amount of resources that will be safe when you are getting attacked by a player is determined by the warehouse level.Write down coords of hostile players that are close to you and make notes. Any information might get important later on.

Make sure you are always building, researching and training something. Build and research things that take long during night.

If you can't take any extra Cityscapes, but you still have a low level Cityscape, then abandon it and replace it by a better one.

There is a cap for the amount of resources you can get from buildings which is determined by the amount of resource buildings.

Goal of the game is to obtain as much respect as possible. Click the respect number (left corner) for an overview.

Strategy and tips for buildings:First focus on resource and cash generating buildings (click Neighborhood panel)Also focus on upgrading the Mansion & Library (Estate panel)After the first 4 hours of playing, you will need to have about the following:

Mansion and Library are at least level 3 and Armory level 1.Make sure the level of Library will never limit you in researchingWhen you build resource buildings, build the same amount for each typeDon't build more than 3 Restaurants, 3 Steel Mills and 3 Cement FactoriesDon't build more than 4 or 5 ApartmentsBuild as many Hideouts as you can (they will increase training speed)Make sure at the end of your Goldfish phase ("under protection phase"):

Armory, Workshop and Front Gate are at least level 5Warehouse is at least level 4

You have a total of 3 Restaurants, 3 Steel Mills and 3 Cement Factories.You have a total of 4 Apartments and at least 15 Hideouts (from which 1 is level 9).

6 Hideouts, 4 Apartments, 3 Restaurants, 3 Steel Mills, 3 Cement Factories all level 3.

Mansion, Library, Garage, Wall and Guard Post are at least level 6 

Guest House is at least level 1

Once you get enough resources from Gangs, you only need 1 of each resource building.

Strategy and tips for training an army:During your Goldfish phase (under protection) focus on Gangs and neutral Cityscapes onlyIn order to determine what you need to train for a certrain Gang, check the final tabThere are 5 types of units: Health, Damage, Balanced, Transport and Defense.Remember: during an attack the units with the lowest health (except transporters) are always attacked first.For an effective attack you need:Health units as sacrifice shield (tank). They will die, but are cheap and trained fast.

Transport units that will transport all the load (cash and resources).Your health units need to have LESS health than your damage units (ie. combine Arsos with Demos)Try to chose health units that don't have a weakness versus the units you are facing.

Try to chose damage units that have bonus versus the units that you are facing.Make sure that the total health of your sacrifice shield units is higher than your opponents total attack.Make sure that the total attack of your damage units is higher than your opponents total health.Rather send in too many units for an attack than too few. This saves you from big losses or even defeats.

Don't build a lot of defense units until you are an Italian Pike (more than 25.000 respect, see introduction)

Damage units that act as the main attacking force. They should always survive and able to kill your opponent.

Chose damage units with more health than your health units (else you will lose them instead of your healh units).

Don't attack other players, if you are still "under protection". Make sure that you have Enforcers or even Assassins and some Dogs before you are out of default protection.

Strategy and tips for research:First focus on Cooking, Cementing and Steelwork for extra resourcesOnce you get enough resources, Medicine will be the most important research.It will lower the losses in all upcoming fights. (Check the Research Tree on the right side how to get there)

More attack means that you require less damage unit for the same fight.Least important is Carjacking. It will increase the movement speed of the units when attacking.

Make sure you're always researching even when you are not online. Work pro-active with the requirements.

Once you have Medicine, focus on Muscle for extra attack bonus. 

 This becomes important later in the game.

Lucky Chance tips:Every day you can play Lucky Chance one time for free. It's a good way to get free items.Items with a lower diamond value have a higher chance to be drawn (regardless where you click).For example: If you press play if one of the items is 1 min Speed Up, you have 67% of getting that item.

Make sure the item you want is one of the 8 items displayed and it has a value of about 15 diamonds.If your item is displayed and the rest of the items have a value of 15 or higher, press play.In other words: Refresh untill the item you want is the card with the lowest diamond value of all 8 cards.Once you avoid all the "cheap" items like this, you will have more control on what you get.If no cards are avoided by refreshing and one of the cards is 2.5hr Speed Up, you have 9% getting it.However if you avoid all cards with low diamond value, the chance of getting it is 27% already!Without this trick the average value of a won item will be 14 diamonds. With the trick it's 29 diamonds.

Make sure you refresh (click tab) Lucky Chance until you have 8 items that have a diamond value of 15 or higher.

About me and why I quit at May 15

PVP has changed from very active to almost dead now. Players hide their units in their FN for good reason and they recall their troops from the Cityscapes. The recent change to PVE where players no longer receive respect from Gangs & Cityscapes destroyed PVE too. The easiest way for players now to get respect is by using several accounts and hit themselves for PVP respect. Therefore any exciting interaction between players has disappeared. The game is changing into a single players game with an online score board. It's not the game it once was and certainly not what it could have been.

For those who wonder who I am and what made me come up with this, here is my history in this game. I joined the game somewhere in january of this year. I joined the biggest crew of my server about 2 weeks later: Royal Guards.

There I worked on a formula that was able to predict travel times between any 2 giving coordinates based on the distance, unit speed and research level. I succeeded after long calculations and wrote a calculator for it. This was the beginning of something that would grow much bigger over time. Eventually I was able to predict combat outcomes, especially in PVE.When I completely understood all the combat mechanics of this game, I was able to create strategies. This first started with a simple newbie guide how to build up a Neighborhood. Soon a guide for slightly more advanced players followed. These guides included strategy for buildings, research, lucky chance, gangs, cityscapes, units, etc.Most players know me from the Gang sheets and the bail out strategy with thugs and Snipers/Butchers. I wrote it months ago, but I still get messages about it every day. At a certain point I was no longer able to reply to all the thanks, but you are all welcome! Soon I noticed that my advice about how many thugs to use for the Bail out strategy was well spread among all servers. Even my enemies use it now and I see that as a compliment.

In the meanwhile my crew Royal Guard lost interest in the game. My own crew leader left the game, because of a major bug when defending a CS. Many crew members followed him and started another browser game from a competing company. We reported this bug and posted a topic about it, but Kabam never replied to it. From this once so famous crew, only a handful, including myself, stayed. I decided to stay with one goal: Become an Underboss, just by skills and dedication without the use of a single diamond. I am an Underboss, thanks to my own guides and thanks to my current crew 33rd degree. I completed my mission. The bug however became especially hated during the Tavella Takedown event two months after I reported it. Many players lost all their units due to this bug. This was the first, nor the last time I was very annoyed by Kabam.

The third time was when exploiting crews of the PvP Respect Tournament were rewarded with 1st prizes. The fourth time was when I found out that in the Racket game not only the rewards were lowered, but that the odds were lowered as well (red hearts are as common as spades and clubs until you click play. Hearts become 3 times uncommon than the others). Later on the prizes were again lowered, yet the costs of playing were still the same. I found this misleading and it might even be against the gambling law.

The last straw for me was the past week. It all started with the bailout bug. Many players, but not all, were no longer able to bailout their best units after a hit. Because of this they lost many units, and they had a huge disadvantage in PVP and in the tournament as well. Instead of a hotfix, people had to learn on the forum that they had to wait 4 more days, before Kabam would say anything about it. Halfway the tournament another bug appeared where trucks died first in battle instead of last. On top of that a final bug showed up with the Assassin.

The Assassin drove many players crazy already, because it made any other unit completely obsolete because of the high stats and low requirements.But due to yet another bug it was able to kill even more than that stats were showing. Even though it had about the same health as the Butchers, it was somehow able to clear out entire level 10 gangs with no loss, whereas players would lose at least 4 Butchers. The bug is even more clear when hitting a Murder Inc gang with about 600 Assassins. Some players, including myself, lose only 1 Assassin then. An Assassin, even with level 20 medicine and the best armory items, has only 45,430 health each. A Murder Inc has a combined attack of 864,090 damage. That’s enough to kill about 19 Assassins in the first strike instead of just 1. These last 3 bugs are all game breaking and will make players lose huge amount of units, which is unforgivable in this game.

Some cynic players have been pointing out that it’s just a beta and that Kabam is a company like any other that just wants to make money. That’s true and so the central question to us as customers is: How much do we tolerate from Kabam? I’ve seen good people, decent people, skilled people and kind people leave this game the past months. Especially the past week the forum is full of topics from players who said farewell to the game. Several players, crews and families hate each other so much that they almost start to forget that they need each other if they ever want to change the policy of Kabam. That’s why I think it’s time that we unite and stand up for our demands. One player will make no change for Kabam, but a strong united community with a common goal, will have a lot of power. That’s why I’m asking you to join us. For our sake.
