Return to Face to Face Learning
Our return to face to face learning last week was most
welcome and I wish to recognise the efforts of the school staff
who have worked tirelessly to deliver off campus learning, at the
same time as supporting those families of essential workers, by
providing face to face learning during this period.
The return to normal routines will no doubt be a relief to families
who, for a significant period of time, have had to juggle work
commitments, family needs and online learning. During this
return I am sure there will be an adjustment period for all
students, particularly those in younger classes, who will need to
refamiliarise themselves with being back at school. Our staff are
well aware of this and will be working hard to redevelop these
positive routines and structures from the outset to ensure a
smooth transition back to school. Should you have any
questions or concerns during this period please do not hesitate
to reach out to your child’s classroom teacher, who will work
closely with you to ensure a positive transition back to the
classroom.
Pupil Free Days
As previously communicated, our scheduled staff day for the
beginning of Term 2 was moved to Friday 19th June with Friday
5th June retained as per the school calendar. The staff days will
be used for Report writing as well as to undertake professional
learning. No supervision will be available for students on either
of these days.
Best wishes for the week ahead. Jon
Dear Parents, Students and Friends of St Gabriel’s,
God’s Spirit was and is a gift for all - those who were
present at that first Pentecost and those, who through
the centuries, continue to walk in their footsteps.
Pentecost
Pentecost is often referred to as the birthday of the Church.
While theologians debate about the accuracy of that, Pentecost
marks the event at which the gift of God’s Spirit was given to
everyone in the infant Christian community that was just
beginning to take shape.
According to Luke, the real miracle of Pentecost is how God’s
Spirit overcomes the barriers of language and perception,
opening not only people's minds but their hearts as well, to hear
the Gospel of the risen Christ. It’s that same Spirit of God which
enables us to hear the voice of God and to find practical ways of
bringing God's peace, justice and compassion to those people
and places where we sense they are lacking. To do that, we have
to learn to hear what God actually speaks and not what we want
or hope to hear and it is God’s Spirit which opens our hearts and
ears to hear what God speaks.
Off Campus Learning Survey
We would appreciate parent feedback about your child’s
experience with off campus learning. Please find a parent survey
for you to complete below. We value your input and we are keen
to find out more about how your child responded to off campus
learning. Please note that information obtained from the survey is
confidential and no individuals will be identified.

Dear Parents and Carers,
We moved quickly back to onsite learning last week.
It was a pleasure to see our students return last week
full of energy and excitement to share all their
learning and stories of what they have achieved
whilst learning from home.
Over the last several months we have talked about being
resilient, flexible, and adaptable, over the last few weeks
these traits have certainly been put to the test. It has
been a pleasure to see how all our students embraced
this and have shown growth in many areas.
As we move towards the long weekend, just a reminder
that all students should return to school wearing their
full winter school uniforms. Please ensure that these are
clearly labelled with your child’s name.
As you are aware places in the community are starting to
open up and gatherings are getting bigger as the
restrictions are easing. We still await advice on
excursions, canteens and assemblies. We are hoping
that throughout Term 3 we will start to begin these
things again.
Thank you to all our families for returning your child’s
iPads, we still have a few outstanding chargers and
cables. Can you please ensure that these are returned
as soon as possible.
I trust you will all have a lovely long weekend, stay safe
and warm.

Hello Everyone,
As the mornings get colder, I’m finding the kids are
struggling to get out of bed. However, there is a new
normality and routine as the days go on and not just at
home but also in the community. On that note, I would
like to thank St Gabriel’s for the measures and hygiene
protocol they have put into place for our children. The
ongoing updates have been very reassuring also.
Good news, Golfing for Gabe’s Golf Day is back on for
the year. The new date is Friday 14th August at
Stonecutters Ridge Golf Course, so please save the
date or book a team, it’s only 2 months away.

thoughts” Eleanor Roosevelt.
Dear Parents,
With students back to face to face learning and winter
upon us I’d like to take this opportunity to ask that you
label all your children’s clothing clearly. We have had
several jumpers and jackets misplaced with items found
not being labelled - the task of getting them back to their
rightful owner(s) becomes a little difficult. Your
assistance in clearly labelling your child’s clothing will
make it easier for us to ensure lost items are returned to
your child once located.
I trust that you all enjoy the long weekend and we look
forward to seeing students back next Tuesday 9th June.

This week is the start of winter. This is the season
where the days get shorter and the weather
becomes cooler.
We thank God for the gifts he has given us through
his Creation-the trees losing their leaves, cooler
days, and the animals that sleep through Winter
who will wake up when spring comes.
Week 6 School Prayer
Who made the sun? Who made the day? Who
made the hours to work and play?
God made them all, God made them good.
God helps us live the way we should.
Thank you God for our Earth, the plants and the
animals, and for the wonderful changes that each
season brings.
Help us all to look after your Creation.

This term 8L have been learning about the
importance of community signs. They have been
taking photos of signs around the school and
creating our own Community Signs ebook.
They have also been learning about road safety
and crossing the road safely. It is important to stop,
look, listen and think before we cross the road.
