Taking Shape needed a supplier thatimplemented the right print devicesacross the company site, meeting allrequirements. It was important thatthe devices were not connected to anextensive contract, and that thesupplier was flexible and able tomake changes as the businessexpanded. They wanted to ensurethey always had access to afunctioning printer, so reliability waskey with some needed forprofessional design printing purposes.

“We needed a supplier whounderstood the needs of the businessand the requirements ofeach business area. The warehousedemands more robust and reliableequipment whilst our designersneeded more technical devices tohandle the detailed graphics andprints,” says Adrian Jacobson, ChiefInformation Officer at Taking Shape.

“It was also important that oursupplier was able to provide somecost savings by looking at ways tobetter manage ongoing printingcosts”.

It was important to find a solutionthat suited the business, andpointed us in the direction of havinga single point of contact whoinvested time in getting to know thebusiness and solving the challenges. This was achieved during our long-term relationship with our AccountManager.

“The B2B Technologies team wererepresenting our bestinterests, aiming to providesolutions that fit our company andour dedication to providing highquality fashion”, says AdrianJacobson.

The printing device requirementsmeant that a range of machines fromdifferent suppliers was needed. TheRicoh technology was recommendedfor the designers, giving them accessto a machine that featured advancedcolour matching quality and colourconsistency with an EFI Fierycontroller to suit their workflow. TheRicoh production printer will deliverhigh quality, high volume output, idealfor creative departments.

Kyocera machines were proposed forthe warehouse as it demanded morerobust, reliable equipment towithstand that environment. Thewarehouse print volumes were muchhigher, so the Kyocera machinesprovided the necessary printrequirements with lower maintenanceneeded. Moreover, the high yieldconsumables for these machinesminimised the costs for orderreplacement.

Investing in a complete Managed PrintService meant that the hardware, software and support requirementswere automatically handled. Thisencompassed the use of differentbrands to suit these uniquerequirements, but at the same timepresented cost savings to the business.A simplified Print Automation Systemwas put in place in order to managethe entire fleet, toner ordering, supportand pro-active maintenance.

“We needed a supplier whounderstood the needs of the

business and the requirements ofeach business area. The

warehouse demands more robustand reliable equipment whilst ourdesigners needed more technical

devices to handle the detailedgraphics and prints,” says Adrian

Jacobson, Chief InformationOfficer at Taking Shape.

Secure printing was also implemented atinstall. This function is used to maintainprivacy when printing confidentialdocuments on the device. Security printfeatures allow jobs to be sent securely tothe printer and held there until yourelease them. This was especially usefulfor the Payroll and HR departments, which were able to use a PIN code foradded security.

“Overall, B2B Technologies showed acomplete understanding of ourrequirements across a range of facilitiescontaining different departments, providing a simpler and more structuredsolution in place that works for us,” saysAdrian Jacobson.
