VALE FRIENDS OF CANCER RESEARCH UK The Cream Teas Afternoon held at Priorswood Cottage on Saturday 19 July 2014 was a huge success despite the monsoon weather that persisted throughout the morning and early afternoon. The final total raised for Cancer Research UK was:£1,346.84. Thank you so much! To all of you who supported, donated or helped in any way to make the afternoon such a success, we could not do it without you.We still would like to hear from anyone who is interested in fundraising for Cancer Research UK either as a committee member or as a supporter at future events …Come and Join us, it's fun! Heather Priestley (Chairman) Tel: 01453 810980 or email: [email protected] The Orchard Medical Centre FLU VACCINATION 2014 Free Flu Vaccinations are available to: All patients of 65 years and over ► All pregnant women ► Patients with chronic (long-term) chest and heart complaints, diabetes, liver and renal problems ► Patients with a chronic neurological disease, such as Parkinsons disease or motor neurone disease ► Patients with a weakened immune system due to disease (such as HIV/AIDS) or treatment such as cancer treatment ► People living in long-stay residential care homes ► People who are in receipt of a carer’s allowance or those who are the main carer of an elderly or disabled person. Flu vaccinations will be given at Flu Clinics on:- Saturday 11th October 9.00am to 2.30pm Plus Monday 13 th and 20th October 5.30pm 8.00pm NO APPOINTMENT NECESSARY VILLAGE AGENT NEWS............. ▪ There is a new public transport service operating in Gloucestershire - Third Sector Services. They provide cost effective, door-to-door community transport using wheelchair accessible minibuses and volunteer cars. There is a registration fee together with a small fee for journeys. JOHN'S CHURCH.......The new glazed screen for the bell tower, which has been so skilfully carved by Alan Smith, will be dedicated at the Remembrance Sunday service on 9th November at 10.00am. SLIMBRIDGE SINGERS WORLD WAR ONE COMMEMORATIVE CONCERT 7th November at 7.30pm in St John's Church An evening of music and song to commemorate world war one, with old favourites: Over there, There's a long long trail awinding, Pack up your troubles, Bless 'em all, and many more! Free entry with a retiring collection. There will be an interval with refreshments and a raffle available. FRIENDS OF SLIMBRIDGE SCHOOL - BINGO EVENING ........ 18th October - doors open at 7pm, eyes down for 7.30pm at the Village Hall. Tickets are £8 available from the post office, school and caravan park, to include a ploughman's supper. Anyone over the age of 16 years is welcome. Bring your own alcoholic drinks, other refreshments available on the evening. Please come along and have a great night out in aid of the Village School. On Thursday 9th October we have Celia Gunn talking about her time amongst the Canadian Indian tribe, the Sinixt. Saturday 25th October brings us Maria Wheatley on Divining Ancient Sites and insights into their creation. Thursday 13th November is the dreaded AGM; Saturday 22nd November is Rory Mac from Bristol Dowsers on Earth Energy Lines; and Thursday 11th December is our Christmas Party when we will be dowsing our usual four tables. All welcome. We are also busily planning our programme for 2015 and have so far booked speakers on Sacred Geometry, Crystals, Labyrinths, Psychometric Dowsing, Purifying Water, and Pagan Symbolism in Christian Architecture. The junior members will be presenting two One Act Plays bringing a traditional Christmas feel to the evening, whilst the Adults (and young ones) will be performing the "Wrong Pantomime".
