Since eighties the Remote SEnsing Department has been involved in numerous international projects. The most important achievements in this field:
•UNDP/FAO Project: „Remote Sensing based system of dynamic grassland soil moisture determination and yield forecasting”;1987 - 1992;•US-Poland Maria Sklodowska-Curie Joint Fund II project in cooperation with NOOA NESDIS, USA : „Application of NOAA AVHRR Data for implementation in Polish Agriculture”; 1996 - 2001; •MARS Project EU (Monitoring Agriculture with Remote Sensing) covering four Actions: Regional Inventory, • Agromodelling, Forest Ecosystems and Land Degradation; 1994 - 1996;

•CORINE Land Cover Projects; 1990 2000;2008
•ESA projects - AO: Soil moisture investigation for the different agricultural crops for biomass assessment using ERS-1 and ERS-2 data; 1993 - 1996
•ESA projects – AO :Application of microwave satellites ENVISAT, AlOS, TerraSar-X; 2000 - 2007;

REMOTE SENSING SYSTEM OF CROP CONDITIONASSESSMENT
CENTRAL STATISTICAL OFFICE Agricultural Statistical Database
ARCHIVE DATABASE of AvNDVI trends for previous years
Agriculture Market Analysis and Forecastused in purchasing and selling small grains
and for agricultural policy decisions
Incorporate crop conditionassessment report
into Polish crop reporting systemand produce yield forecast
Compare current year’s AvNDVI trends to historical trends
in the archive databaseto assess crop condition for this year
Calculate average crop condition indexfor each voivodship (AvNDVI)
for each 10 days period
Extract vegetation indices of croplandfrom cloud-free areasfor each 10 day period
Calibrate and correct imagesfor differences over time
and create 10 dayvegetation index composites
Reception of Satellite Databy Polish Station
