Ella and Persia selected in the Headlands District soccer team. Well done girls!
Caalen playing a tune on our new school piano!
Welcome back everyone to Term 2 at Coorabell which promises to be a particularly busy and productive term. A special welcome back to Mr Keylock who took leave in Term 1 and returns as the Year 4/5 class teacher.
Most COVID restrictions have been lifted which fortunately now allows school assemblies to resume with parents attending. However certain COVID based procedures such as sanitisation and signing in will remain in place. Our first school assembly is scheduled for Tuesday Week 3 at 1.45pm in the school library. All most welcome to attend.
The postponed VOSS Cross Country Carnival at Durrumbul will take place this Friday and the
weather promises to be fine. All the kids are very much looking forward to this special event and have been training, with some even training in the holidays, in preparation. It is also the Kindies’ first carnival. If you haven’t handed in the second cross country permission note for this Friday the 23rd please return tomorrow. All most welcome to attend and cheer on our runners. Canteen menu attached.
School Discos are also now permitted to take place and our tremendous P&C has jumped on board following this good news and are ready to boogie on Friday the 30th April. Please see P&C news for further details.
It is a NSW departmental requirement that all public schools complete their four year school plan in Term 1. Mrs van Kempen and I have finished the plan which I will be presenting to (continued over page)

the P&C and can also be accessed through the school website. Two of the state priorities are attendance and well-being. In light of this I have attached a flyer demonstrating the importance of attendance and the adverse impact less frequent attendance can have on a child’s educational development. In regards to well-being, the students will be completing a ‘Tell Them from Me’ school survey shortly and a note will be sent home to parents with further information.
Congratulations to Ella and Persia who have been selected as members of the Headlands District girls soccer team to compete at the Far North Coast PSSA trials tomorrow at Kingscliff. Good luck girls!
Our Year 3 to 6 students will also be competing in a netball gala day at Mullumbimby netball courts next Thursday. A note will be sent home this week with further details.
On Thursday I will conduct our annual school ANZAC commemoration ceremony.
Huge thank you to Delvene (Aelfie and Quin’s grandmother) who has generously donated a piano in excellent condition and has already become a popular musical item in our school library.
Many thanks - Geoff Coghlan

Working Bee 🐝🐝
Working Bees are back on the permitted list now. We will be consulting with the school as to where best to put our efforts around the school this term. Maybe some pressure-washing after all that rain. We might even get Mr Moore to come in on the day to command the troops.
Next P&C Meeting
The next meeting of the P&C will be held at 6pm on Wednesday 5th May at The Bowlo Bangalow. We will be discussing P&C events for the coming year. Everyone is welcome to attend, membership of the P&C is not required.
