The rules for Demonstration Day are in a sepa- rate packet, handed out at January club meetings. Parish Livestock Judging Contest

4-H Camp Dates Set - May 26-30, 2014

There will be a Parish Livestock Judging Contest on Thursday, January 23, 2014, at 6:00 p.m. at the Cecil McCrory Exhibit Building at 1105 W. Port Street in Abbeville. Come learn how to judge beef, sheep, swine, and poultry, while learning valuable decision making and communi-cation skills.

The dates for our 2014 4-H Camp have been assigned and Vermilion Parish will be going the week of May 26-30, 2014. The camp is for 4-6

th grader members and you must turn in an “Application for

Awards” by April 9, 2014. This date is after Achievement Day which is scheduled for March 16, 2013. The applications will be given out at March club meetings or can be down-loaded at http://www.lsuagcenter.com/en/our_offices/parishes/Vermilion/Features/4-H/Forms_Applications/ if you’d like a copy now.

4-H Portfolios

Our 4-H FUNdamentals Workshop will cover Portfoli-os. All 6th-12th graders and their parents are invited to participate on Saturday, De-cember 14, 2013. You must pre-register and a form can be found in the November issue of the Vermilion Crack-lins. There is a $5.00 charge for supplies for 4-H members only. Our portfolio form will be made available to all 4-H’ers and leaders during January and February. It can also be accessed online at http://www.lsuagcenter.com/en/4H/teens/4h_portfolio/. Parish books are due in the 4-H Office by 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2014.

4-H Honor Cords

4-H Honor Cords recognize 4-H members that are graduating seniors. In order to receive one, you must fill out and return an application form. Forms can be picked up at the 4-H Office Monday-Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

For 4-H youth to receive the 4-H Honor Cord, they must meet the following requirements:

Must be an enrolled 4-H member in good standing.

Must be a graduating senior.

Must have been enrolled in 4-H for 3 years of their high school career.

Must have participated in at least one state sponsored 4-H program in the last 3 years.

Must fill out the application form and turn in to their parish office by Friday, January 10, 2014.
