From Your County International Chairman
KEHA Coins for Change
(Pennies for Friendship)
The KEHA Coins for Change program supports
international projects through both KEHA and
the Associated Country Women of the World
(ACWW). Each year, half of the funds collected
through Coins for Change are forwarded to
ACWW for their Pennies for Friendship Program.
The other half stay in KEHA to support programs.
Please be sure to collect coins at each or your
meetings and turn them in to the county
treasurer. Our goal is to double what we
collected last year.
Quilt Club News
Most of the members are still
working on blocks from the book
Farm Girl Vintage by Lori Holt for
their Row-by-Row quilts. In the
meantime, we are making some
patterns for really cute small items and acquiring new
techniques as we do. We all learn together as we work on
these adorable projects. July’s technique is quilting as
you go making a log cabin block. Some people will make
one for a pillow shame while others may choose to make
enough for a whole quilt. In order to give these members
enough time to finish their blocks, we will learn how to put
them together in March. Come join the fun! Mark your
calendars for July 17 at 6:30. We are meeting in the quilt
shop on Shelby Street until the extension renovation is
completed.
You will need a 16” square of backing fabric and batting
plus several light and dark 2 ½” fabric strips. You will also
need one 2 ½” square for the center.
Tip of the month: If your needle is sticky from sewing
through interfacing or other gluey material, sew through
a small individual, unopened package containing an alcohol
swab. (The kind used when you are getting a shot.) The
alcohol will clean the needle.
What’s
for
Dinner
Mark your calendars
now for the third
Wednesday of each
month. The “What’s for Dinner” Classes will

At the August session we will cover herbs.
Class will include Rub and Seasoning
recipes as well as discuss how to harvest
your fresh herbs and preserve for future
use.
We will be sampling several recipes and
making a few simple recipes to add to
our dishes. Class size will be limited so be
sure to call the Extension Office to register
for the class.
