SPORTING UNIFORM
As we begin to formalise our sporting activities, we will be implementing a more formal sports uniform. This will
be phased in gradually, and will become compulsory for all children participating in sport.
To this end, we have introduced Hockey/Soccer socks to be worn with the current extra mural uniform for these
sports.
The socks are currently available at McCullagh and Bothwell, Fourways Crossing.
HOCKEY
Please note that hockey is an official sport at Cooper College. Should your child want to participate in hockey they will need their own:
1. hockey stick
2. gum guard
3. shin pads
4. Cooper College hockey socks
5. running shoes or hockey/soccer boots
Should your child not have all the attire, they may still participate in the sports, however, they will become part of an alternative fitness program, while those that do have hockey attire continue with hockey. The hockey attire is something that will be used every year going forward.
Thank you for your support!

As you know, one of our Grade 2 students, Alyssa Carter, has been involved in her own Save The Rhino’s project, since learning about endangered animals at school. Alyssa is the very first SANParks Rhino Champion, named by the SANParks Honorary Rangers. Alyssa’s goal is to raise R100 000 by the Rangers 50th Indaba, taking place in May. Her aim is to sponsor a sniffer dog, the initial cost of which is R40 000, but with all the training, homing, feeding, equipment etc. to set the sniffer dog up, the total cost will be closer to R100 000. To date, Alyssa has raised over R30 000! Alyssa is selling chocolates, stickers, lollipops, rock candy and biscuits, all at a charge of R10 each. If you would like to help Alyssa’s cause, you can: 1. Buy any of the above items from her on Fridays at Cooper College, for R10 2. Give a secure donation through her website www.savetherhinos.co.za 3. Email Alyssa’s father, Brian Carter [email protected] 4. Contact Cooper College [email protected] Alyssa is representing her cause by doing additional appearances to spread the word – she has done a number of interviews, appeared on ENCA news, Mix FM, Talk Radio 702 and Cape Talk, Radio Today, as well as speaking engagements, such as at the Centurion Seniors Association and various companies and schools. She will be doing a number of TV appearances in the near future, so keep an eye on her website/facebook page for information. Cooper College is extremely proud of Alyssa. She has the courage and endurance to take on a fundraising activity of this mag-nitude, and see it through, and she is gaining valuable life skills and experience through public speaking engagements and in-terviews. This young girl will really be going places if she carries on as she is, and we can only be privileged to be a part of that – well done, Alyssa!
