    KEY NOTES from the Principal

ISAT Testing begins on MondayStudent in third, fourth and fifth grades will be taking the ISAT assessments starting Monday,March 1st and will continue through Thursday, March 4th. From my discussion with teachers our student

are well prepared for the material covered on these assessments.

Students will start testing first thing in the morning each day and shortly after lunch recess. It is veryimportant that they are at school on time and ready to go. We are all aware of the value of a goodbreakfast and to be well rested for these assessments. It really does make a difference.

Parent Conference Notes and Parent Input FormsOn Thursday March 4th student will be coming home with Parent Teacher conference letters for SpringConferences. You will receive a letter requesting a conference with you or a letter offering you theopportunity to set up a conference if you feel you would like to meet with your childs teacher.

Included with the conference letter will be a letter and Parent Input Form for student placement for the

2010 and 2011 school year. The Parent Input Form is due no later than March 18

    th

. We begin studentplacement shortly after spring break and we need to compile that information as we begin the process.Athletic Shoe Recycling Returns in AprilFor the second year, all District 64 schools and offices will collect old athletic shoes for recycling duringHealthy Living month this April. So please set aside old running, aerobic, basketball, tennis or crosstraining shoes as you do your spring cleaning. Look for more information in upcoming newsletters.Thank you from the District 64 Green Team Committee!

Drop Off and pick up of StudentsWe are noticing parents driving into the teacher parking lot at the end of the day and picking up theirchildren by the blue playground. Please do not do this. Adding traffic to the parking lot at the busydismissal time is very dangerous. Arrange to pick your children up on Manor or even better on Dee sincethe majority of students are dismissed to the playground.

Night of the StarsA quick reminder that Tomorrow, Friday the 25th in the evening, Franklin School will hold its fourthannual Night if Stars. Come see the variety of amazing talent displayed by our Franklin students.

WinterFestI wanted to take a moment to thank the Franklin PTA, our parents and all of the students for coming toWinterFest last Saturday and supporting Franklin School. It was a great time!

I wanted to especially thank Leah Zamora, our PTA President for chairing the committee and AggieMalin for all of her hard work, since October, gathering donations and prizes for the raffles. A special

thank you to Linda Peterson and Nancy Torres for heading up the silent auction baskets and Sylvia Sagatfor coordinating the teacher lunch raffle. It couldnt have been done without the help of the countlessparent volunteers setting up and breaking down, helping in the kitchen and supervising the many eventsand activities. Your time and dedication were paramount to making this event a success!
