Cook Children’s Rich Goode named CFO of the Year On Wednesday, Jan. 19, approximately 200 people piled into Hochberger Auditorium to hear the official word from the American Nurses Credentialing Center about Magnet re-designation. Upon hearing the news that Cook Children’s Medical Center was unanimously voted for re- designation, the crowd erupted with a chorus of party noise makers, air horns and slide whistles. It was official, Cook Children’s Nursing is a shining example of excellence. Addressing the audience, including President and CEO Rick Merrill and Medical Center President Nancy Cychol, Vice President of Nursing/Chief Nursing Officer Paula Webb, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, happily thanked everyone for their dedication to not only their profession and Cook Children’s but to all of our patients that are daily recipients of amazing care by our staff. Through this exciting new forum, the Schwartz Center Rounds,

we look to enhance communication, teamwork and provider support,

in keeping with our promise to provide patient-centered care in a

nurturing environment for our staff. The first session, which is entitiled

‘Faith, Miracles and Uncertainty,’ will be held on Monday, Feb. 7 from

12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Decker Board Room.

As a reminder, each session will begin with a brief 10 to 15

minute presentation by a panel of two to three clinicians from different

disciplines involved in the care of the patient, followed by a facilitator

led open discussion. Lunch will be provided beginning at 12:15 p.m.

Continuing education credit will be provided.

Cook Children’s employees are encouraged to notify their manager of concerns about possible

violations of laws, regulations or provisions of the Code of Conduct or Corporate Compliance Program.

If an employee has a concern that the individual believes should be reported and does not feel

comfortable about reporting it to his/her immediate supervisor, then the individual can report it to any

other manager within Cook Children’s. The individual also can report this to the compliance officer

If the employee wants to report the concern anonymously, the employee can call the Cook Children’s

Reporting Code of Conduct or Compliance Violations

Giving patients and co-workers alike a glimpse at their world,

Cook Children’s CRNA team will spend the week of Jan. 24 partnering with

Child Life for patient activites in the Atrium from 1 to 3 p.m. on Monday, Jan.

24 and Tuesday, Jan. 25.

Feel free to stop by the Atrium all week to browse their poster

presentations and join them for a snack on Friday, Jan. 28 from 1 to 3 p.m.
