The Position The Conway Public Schools, Conway, Arkansas, Board of Education, is seeking a highly qualified Superintendent. The Board wishes to have the successful candidate assume the responsibilities of the position July 1, 2021. McPherson & Jacobson, L.L.C., Executive Recruitment and Development has been engaged as the consultant in a search for outstanding candidates. They will assist the Board of Education in identifying and screening the candidates. The Qualifications The candidate must have the background, skills, and abilities essential for excellence in educational leadership. The Board recognizes that selecting a superintendent is one of the most important decisions it will make. The Board developed the following desired characteristics. The Conway Public Schools Board of Education is seeking a Superintendent of Schools: Who will embrace and build upon the following Core Values of the Conway School District:

In Support Of The District Core Values, The Next Superintendent Will Be An Individual:

• Who is fiscally conservative, has proven budgeting experience, values and understands equity in budgeting for key and essential areas.

• Who has successfully demonstrated the ability to hire and utilize subordinates effectively, build strong relationships throughout the District and State, expand involvement, and communicate effectively with all staff, students, community and the Board of Education.

• Who is a person of high integrity, strong morals, compassionate, a servant leader, displays humility, and has a sense of humor.

• Who has demonstrated success with broad based Community engagement and the development of a strong public relations/marketing campaign.

• Who will integrate into the community, values and promotes diversity, promote the “Wampus Cat Culture”, and builds trust with all publics.

• Who is innovative, a strategic thinker, follows through on tasks, understands law and policy, and is involved on the State level by having input to influence decisions related to public K-12 education.

• Who understands and values “All” students in making decisions, uses data as the score card to continue moving the District forward.

An application for superintendent should include: A letter setting forth personal qualifications, experiences and reasons for interest in the position. A current résumé. A completed application form. Reference letters, certificates and licenses, and academic transcripts from colleges/universities indicating degree(s).

Candidates are asked not to directly contact board members. Any effort to do so may eliminate them from consideration. Names of applicants will be held in strict confidence whenever possible; however, McPherson & Jacobson complies with individual states’ Freedom of Information laws. In the final process, the school board may visit the district where the candidate is employed, but will not proceed without the knowledge and consent of the candidate.
