MINUTES

1. Call to order and introductions – Judd Roseberry, Richwood; called the meeting to order at 10:15

am. 27 attendees, roll call attached. 2. Approval of Minutes of September 19, 2018 – Minutes were approved. 3. Committees Report.

a) Screw Conveyor/Bucket Elevators Please refer to the minutes of Screw Conveyor/Bucket Elevators

b) Conveyor Pulleys No new business discussed.

c) Conveyor Idlers No new business discussed.

d) Bulk Belt Systems and Emerging Technologies No new business discussed.

e) Bulk Conveyor Accessories No new business discussed.

4. Current Business Conditions and Outlook and Labor Situation – Members reported on their

current business conditions and reviewed current labor trends 5. Membership Committee Champion

Kimberly MacLaren reported membership. Discussed prospective member list. Requested updates for people on the list as contact names, email or phone numbers to assist in possible company membership. An introduction to CEMA membership and an email with CEMA (Kimberly) copied would assist in opening communications.

6. Other Business

a) ANSI/CEMA Std. 550 – Updates ANSI/CEMA Std 550 “Classification and Definition of Bulk Conveyor Materials”. The subcommittee reviewed the document but did not review the referenced standards within the document. Many of them have been found to be obsolete or not applicable. We need volunteers to assist with this. This review is holding our progress on 350. Two members put their hands up: Ned Thompson, Prab, Inc.; Dan Fannin, Regal Beloit America Inc. and volunteered their assistance to Naylu Garces. Naylu will send document to them for review.

b) ANSI/CEMA Std. 102 – Updates

ANSI/CEMA Std. 102 (2012) “Conveyor Terms and Definitions” Has the most urgency to be reviewed. Volunteers are needed for this on bucket elevator and feeder area. Contact Ron Wagner to join review on every Monday conference call. CEMA would like to meet December 2019 deadline so they do not have to file for another extension and finalize at the Engineering Conference.

c) ANSI/ISO vs. CEMA Safety Labels Discussion – Survey results 25 companies replied 8 do not purchase ANSI labels. 13 currently purchase ANSI of the 13, 11 would be interested in the ANSI/ISO compliant safety labels. CEMA labels are compliant with ANSI standards. ANSI allows for verbal and non-verbal labels. It was reported the Board of Directors determined there was not enough interest on the survey to warrant any action at this time.

d) ANSI/CEMA Std. 501.1 ANSI/CEMA Std. 501.1 “Specifications for Welded Steel Wing Pulleys” and 105.1. “Specifications for Welded Steel conveyor Pulleys with Compression Type Hubs” will be reaffirmed in 2020. Please review and submit changes as applicable.

e) CEMA Publications status It was reported that as many as 13 standards are up for ANSI reaffirmation or revision for 2019. For ANSI consensus there must be a balance of users, producers, and general interest. Please make sure you respond when CEMA canvases your company.

f) CEMA Std. 575 and 576 CEMA 575 “Bulk Material Belt Conveyor Impact Bed/Cradle” and 576 “Classification of Applications for Bulk Material Conveyor Belt Cleaning” are under revision. Please take time to review it when it is distributed.

g) CEMA Std. 502-2019 CEMA Std. 502 “Bulk Material Belt Conveyor Troughing and Return Idlers” Standard is ready to be published.

h) ANSI/CEMA Std. 300 ANSI/CEMA 300 “Screw Conveyor Dimensional Standards” and ANSI/CEMA 350 “Screw Conveyors for Bulk Materials”: A sub-committee was formed from Screw Conveyor Committee to provide data for ANSI/CEMA Std. 300 and updates to each sub-standard and graphics. CEMA would like to review for a possible ANSI revision for 2019.
