The 48th Annual Convention of the Australian Pipelinesand Gas Association (APGA) will be held at the PerthConvention and Exhibition Centre from 8 to 11 October2016 and will cover a range of issues under the title:Australia’s Pipeline Industry: Sustainability |Knowledge | Innovation.

APGA’s Annual Convention brings together participantsfrom all sectors of the pipeline industry as well as otherindustries that are associated with natural gas and thetransportation of energy, slurry and water. This majorannual industry event provides excellent informationin the business sessions, and the social events allowfor extensive networking opportunities. The Australianpipeline industry is respected worldwide and APGA’s broad

membership base provides knowledge and informationthat is being transferred to the next generation of experts.

The business sessions will include papers coveringpipeline operations, project updates, training, research,environmental challenges and safety issues. It is alsoexpected that gas policy and gas markets will beincreasingly topical at this time, generating much interestand debate about the role of the transmission sector andthe challenges of gas supply for the domestic market.

This Call for Papers includes a request for presentationscovering major (or smaller) projects, opportunities anddevelopments in the industry. Presentation topics caninclude but are not restricted to:n natural gas and energy policiesn gas marketsn construction challengesn coal seam gasn international industryn researchn regulatory developments.n safetyn training and skills developmentn operational and maintenance issuesn environmental issuesn technical regulationn water, slurry, waste transportation

The APGA Annual Convention is an opportunity to presentforward-thinking and practical ideas that stimulatediscussion and debate and give guidance to the industryas it prepares for the future.

APGA is calling for papers from members and non-members to be submitted by Friday, 19 February 2016.Papers should meet the following criteria in order tobe considered by APGA’s 2016 Convention PapersCommittee:n Papers should be well researched and of interest to a

broad audience.n

Papers should preferably focus on the issues outlinedand t within the theme of the Convention.n All papers are to be presented and written in English.n Presenters must be available for interview by the

Papers Selection Committee should the Committeerequire further information.

n Presentations and written papers that are selectedby the Papers Selection Committee are to beprovided to Conference Co-ordinators by Friday,9 September 2016 to enable the timely circulationof the Convention papers and presentations to all

delegates.n Papers should not focus on a particular product

brand.n Papers should not be advertorial.

The application form (on page 4 of this brochure) mustbe forwarded to APGA by Friday, 19 February 2016 with:n An abstract of the paper (up to 200 words).n Biographical data of all authors (up to 150 words

each) and background information about thepresenter must be provided for the Paper SelectionCommittee.

Successful presenters will be required to provide a photowith their biographical information by mid-August 2016.

All papers accepted will receive one complimentarydelegate registration. Please note that additionalpresenters for a single paper will be required to registerin full. Travel and accommodation expenses will notbe paid by APGA.It is a condition that all speakersaccepted through the Call for Papers will be required toprovide an electronic version of the written paper.

Should the number of papers received exceed speakingopportunities, a selection of papers will be accepted onthe basis of the overall theme, following the guidelinesoutlined above and their interest to a broad audience.

Perth, the location for the 2016 Convention, is known for its glorious days andspectacular sunsets – this city will impress. The capital sits where the Swan Rivermeets the southwest coast. Perth has more than two million people working and living inthe city and nearby coastal regions. The city has gained notice on the world stage as animportant cultural and business hub of Australia and a gateway to the Asian markets.Perth offers many unique experiences for all visitors; the views and beauty of Kings Parkwhich is located only minutes from the city; the marine and wildlife of Rottnest Island;the architecture and beaches of Fremantle and the multicultural energy of the CBD.

With a Mediterranean climate, Perth enjoys hot dry summers with mild winters. Octoberhas temperatures that range from a minimum of 11° C to a maximum of 22° C. Perthboasts an average of eight hours of sunshine a day.The Convention will be held at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, which islocated within an easy walking distance of many levels of accommodation.We look forward to welcoming you to the APGA Convention in 2016.

The APGA Annual Convention will have a comprehensivesocial program to promote networking within the industry,including dinners, the traditional golf competition, toursand other special events. Partners are encouraged toattend outings which will be covered by their registration.Children up to and including 15 years of age are welcome

to attend the day outings free of charge. Traditionally, fourdinners are held throughout the Convention, each withits own distinct theme — Saturday’s relaxed WelcomeDinner, Sunday’s of cial Opening Dinner, the famous APGAMonday night Fancy Dress Dinner and Tuesday’s formalAPGA Annual Dinner.

As in previous years, the 2016 APGA Convention will hostan Exhibition designed to give companies in the industryan opportunity to display their products and services.APGA’s 2015 Exhibition was very successful, with 134stands. The 2016 Exhibition will consist again of over130 displays, with the of cial opening to take place onSunday, 9 October 2016. On the evening of the OpeningDinner, pre-dinner drinks will be held in the exhibition

area, as will all morning and afternoon teas and lunchesthroughout the Convention. All exhibitors will be listedin the Convention Program and receive trade invitationsto send to potential customers. They will also receivediscounted registration to the Convention and publicity inAPGA’s of cial publication,The Australian Pipeliner .Registration fees have been kept to a minimum throughthe generous sponsorship support of APGA member

companies. Sponsorship packages are available forbusiness sessions, lunches, dinners, morning andafternoon teas, registration items, Exhibition featuresand the social programs. All sponsors receive extensiveexposure and acknowledgement from APGA, as well asother bene ts, depending on the level of sponsorship.Sponsorship can be tailored to suit the requirements ofmajor and other sponsors and begin from $1,000 plus
