The Welcome Reception, held Monday, June 24, brought the neon lights of the strip to the dance floor in Oceanside D. NATA members, family and friends donned their glow-in-the-dark finest as they danced to the tunes of DJ Daddyfats and ’80s New Wave band, The Spazmatics. READ FULL RECAP BREAKING NEWS Attend the Collegiate Setting: Athlete Safety First Press Briefing 9 to 10 a.m. Today, Press Room, Oceanside E NATA is hosting a virtual, in-person press briefing to release findings from a survey conducted by the NATA Intercollegiate Council for Sports Medicine evaluating adoption of NCAA legislation for delivery of care to student athletes. This event is open to NATA members on a first come, first served basis. NATA President Tory Lindley, MA, ATC, will provide introductory comments, as well as an overview and assessment of survey findings. University of Kansas Associate Athletic Director of Sports Medicine and ICSM Chair Murphy Grant, MS, ATC, PES, will discuss KU's recent transition to a medical oversight and health care compliance model. Please be advised that the information shared at the event will be under embargo, therefore, sharing the information is prohibited until NATA posts the information through NATA communication channels after the event. This two- hour lecture aims to equip ATs with advanced anatomy knowledge of the knee joint and the confidence to counsel athletes about treatments for degenerative knee injuries. ACCESS PRELIM PROGRAM CEU Earn CEUs, EBP CEUs at Convention Certified athletic trainers who attend all three days of the 70th NATA Clinical Symposia & AT Expo will earn up to 25 CEUs. This year, there are seven sessions at the NATA convention eligible for Evidence-Based Practice CEUs. Some of the EBP events run concurrently, so registrants will be able to attend up to four of the seven. NATA 2019 APP Preconference Workshops a Success Prior to the 70th NATA Clinical Symposia & AT Expo beginning, six preconference workshops were held on a variety of topics, primarily in the South Seas ballroom. Workshops ranging from three and a half to six hours incorporated lectures and hands-on labs to explore topics such as joint dislocation evaluation and suturing minor skin wounds. Join us for a live recording of JAT Chat featuring an interview with NATA President Tory Lindley, MA, ATC, and Journal of Athletic Training Editor in Chief Jay Hertel, PhD, ATC, FNATA, from 3:20 to 3:40 p.m. in the Journals kiosk in NATA Connect, Bayside D. Lindley and Hertel will be interviewed by Kara Radzak, PhD, LAT, ATC, about the current state of research in athletic training and the role research will play in shaping the future of the profession. ACCESS JOURNALS See What the Career Center Has to Offer This year, all available job postings (both onsite and offsite) will be listed online and accessible in the Career Center. Employers will be able to flag positions that are open for interviews onsite, and job candidates will be able to search all jobs open. The Career Center will also feature seating areas for interviews in case employers would like to schedule a time to meet with any job candidates for onsite interviews. In addition, you can also drop off your résumés to be refined by athletic training professionals at no charge. Career Center hours are: 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Today 6:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. June 26 6:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 27 LEARN MORE ABOUT CAREER CENTER Check Out the Free Communications Program Sponsored by the NATA Research & Education Foundation, the Free Communications Program is often the first chance an athletic trainer often gets to present his/her research and clinical case studies on a topic during the NATA convention through oral, rapid fire and poster presentations. To date, approximately 5,000 oral and poster presentations have been provided through the Free Communications program. This year, the Free Communications Program Poster is from 10 a.m. to noon today in NATA Connect, Bayside D. Oral and rapid fire presentations will take place throughout convention. VIEW FREE COMM PROGRAM LGBTQ+AC Hosts Inaugural Town Hall For the first time, LGBTQ+ Advisory Committee will host a town hall meeting at 7 p.m. tonight in Oceanside F. One of the youngest committees in NATA, LGBTQ+AC was created to push the athletic training profession toward further inclusion and advocacy of diverse patient populations and athletic trainers of all sexual orientations, gender identities and gender expressions.
