Ultra-K Shielded Isolation Transformers

Where you might use them?

• Anyplace that has electronic loads like…

• Electronic ballast lighting

• Computer / Communications systems

• Variable Frequency Drives

• Other mission critical electronic loads

Page 5: Controlled Power Company Overview 2010

WHAT WHAT ULTRA-KULTRA-K ISOLATION ISOLATION PROVIDESPROVIDES

• Excellent load voltage regulation, during load step or high harmonic conditions.

• Significant Common Mode noise reduction (like static on audio systems, distortion on video screens or otherwise inexplicable error messages in IT systems). In fact we offer you a choice of 1 million : 1 (2 shield), or 10 million : 1 (3 shield) in CMN attenuation.

• Superior harmonic handling capability (harmonics cause systems to run hot, fool generators and building logic systems, plus numerous other physical and IT system issues).

• Creates new Neutral and provides new source when electrical grounding is a problem.

Page 6: Controlled Power Company Overview 2010

K-FACTOR

As a result of high neutral currents on harmonic rich circuits:

• EEddy currents (the circulating current at the surface of a wire) prevents total current penetration of cylindrical wire.

• AAs the frequency increases, the penetration decreases, using less cross sectional area of the wire. The wire heats up as a result.

• AApplied to a transformer, the K-factor expresses the ability of the transformer to handle harmonic currents without overheating.

Conductor Cross-SectionSkin Effect of High Frequency

Currents = Overheating

Page 7: Controlled Power Company Overview 2010

Why buy an Ultra-K?

• Noise Reduction & Line Conditioning.• K-Rated for Harmonic Handling Capability Provides

power conditioning, K-rating, NEMA TP-1 and Energy Star® compliance.

• Superior Harmonic Handling & Load Changes without overheating or over-sizing.

• Highest Grade of Construction Materials.• High Efficiency – (fka EPA Energy Star®)

& NEMA TP1 listed.• Low Heat Rise – 115o C.• Low Output Impedance.
